I did a follow up sleep study 3 weeks ago (1 year post op), just because I was curious where things stood between me, mr cpap and a good nights rest. The pulmonary doctor said I had 2 events during the night and anything below 5 events is considered normal. Yay! I kind of already suspected severe sleep apnea was wiped out after surgery, but it was good to get medical confirmation. Oh and those 2 events were a very slight snore in the back of my throat, hardly even audible, but the wires picked up the vibration. So snoring kicked the bucket also! Bonus!!

Thank you all. I am glad to now that 1600 machine can be given to someone else or sold rather than sit under my bed and gather dust. Lol. I really only used it for about 3 months and it is practically brand new. Too bad I own it. The insurance company basically forced me to buy it. Anyone want to purchase a like new cpap for cheap? You would just need to get it re calibrated per doctor prescription.

I quit using mine a couple of months ago and the hubs has said I'm not snoring. Yay!! I do need to get the official word on not needing it though (for my own well-being). Once I'm cleared, my hubs is going to see if the sleep center will recalibrate my machine for him, since mine is newer, and he'll use his old machine strictly for travel.

The bummer about the dang CPAP machines are that you technically can't resell it because it is available by prescription only. (So eBay will remove any auctions, etc., for these things because supposedly it is technically illegal, like selling prescription drugs.) I am only mentioning this in case you weren't aware, I don't mean it to sound any other way!! I don't really understand the why with this because I don't think you can overdose on air.

Strange, as my pulmonary doctor assistant recommended selling it. What you say makes sense though.

It's staying in the family! His brother had severe sleep apnea but had no budget or insurance to get a machine...so he's going to be able to use it. ;)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
