....to buy her Protein Shake mix for post op and the 70 year old lady that asked if i needed help, I tell her I'm looking for the section where they have to Vitamins and Protein shake mix, so she walks me to the back and shows me!!

She proceeds to ask me when my surgery is etc...and we chit chat for a min and she looks straight at me and says "honey you don't need that surgery, you look good like you are.....well thank you sweetheart, that was kind if you, but at 250 POUNDS I LOOK ANYTHING BUT GOOD!!!!!

So sweet of her and her 90 lbs. soaking wet body, but I thank I will go on with the surgery:)

8/8/13 is my day:)

I went into surgery at 229. Several nurses told me the same thing. It upset me actually. I kinda felt like someone was about to take a gift away from me.

People have been telling me that from the begining.. I know that they all see me as not needing it.. but at the end of the day it's how you feel in your own skin.. take care and good luck next week!

My mother in law said the same kind of thing to me pre surgery and now that I'm post surgery she's saying 'you've lost enough weight you can stop now and be just fine.' Excuse me but I'm not going to take a major step like this and just stop! I haven't even made it to Onederland yet!

That was sweet of her. I get a lot of people telling me that and I weigh 290. "What, but you look so good now!" I don't care, I don't feel good.

I think when people say that, they don't realize how hard we struggle to stay at that weight. When my previous insurance lady to,d me I didn't weigh enough, in was like, "honey tell me how much I need to gain, because I sure can do it!" :)

When I had my swallow test the day after surgery (3 wks ago), I overheard the techs discussing me. They said "soon people weighing 125 r gunna be having wls".

It actually made me feel uncomfortable. That I didn't deserve it. Pre op weight was 174, but that was down from 250 4 yrs ago pre lapband. I don't think I would've gotten wls at 174 if there hadn't been a complication.

When I went in for my psych eval, the doctor (male, eastern-European) said to me, "why would you want to do that to yourself -- you're a tall, beautiful woman!" It was pretty funny. I weighed 258, had out of control diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease. I was facing losing my feet in a few years if I didn't get my diabetes under control. Once I told him that, he began to agree with me.

Kim2002, what a cute anecdote :) My prep nurse told me that she never would have guessed my weight. She was sweet too.

For me, the comment made me feel good, not bad. Like a testament that I'd been able to pull it off (it helps that it's all spread out over my 6 ft tall body) and that wheeling into that surgical room meant it only would get better from there! Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
