How long does it take you to drink 16 oz?

I drink 16oz before eating and it usually takes me about 30 mins. I will be a year out from surgery in October.

chicken. Always chicken.

Good thing I like it. :)

Also I'm getting close to 3 years post-op and I've been really focusing on waiting 45-60 minutes to drink after eating. I notice that it really does help keep me fuller longer.

Any kind of firm Protein does the trick for me. Also, now that I'm further out, I find if I don't get enough calories in earlier in the day after the full feeling from dinner leaves I just stay hungry until I go to bed. I've taken to adding oil or cheese to lunch and dinner. Only need a little to do the trick.

I can dring Water pretty quickly. I can drink 16 oz in about 5 minutes or so (on an empty or semi empty stomach). I take sips of water when I'm eating but there's no room for water if I'm full or want to eat a decent amount of food.< /p>

Do you have a special recipe for the mini crustless quiche? How many can you eat (I'm thinking its done in a muffin tin...maybe the tiny ones?)

I found a couple online. I looked at Big Oven and a couple of the food network chef sites. The only thing I adjust is the crust. Here's a good one i like:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/country-quiche-recipe/index.html - I use only the egg whites and usually use turkey meat or bacon (nitrate free) in the place of the sasauge. I then grease a mini muffin tin and let me tell you, 3 of those minis keep me full for hours.

As an FYI, you might have to chop your veggies even smaller due to the small tins.

Okay, so you don't use the pie shell this recipe calls for, right? (Thanks for posting by the way!)

I drink Water up to 15 mins before a meal. I don't drink again until an hour after my meals. Other than that, i pretty much drink Water or hot Decaf tea throughout the day. i find Greek yogurt, nuts, Protein shakes along with chicken or fish keeps me full.

I'm a sneezer too! I go into a sneezing fit if I have too much sugar or any dairy. I think it's a form of inflammation and rejection.

I'm glad you asked this question. My sleeve has been very picky and I'm finding it difficult to stay full as well. Thank you, OP and subsequent posters, for the good ideas!

I was just at my surgeon's today and asked him about this problem. I was concerned that it meant I went to far. My question was "When you eat and then get a runny nose, sneeze, hiccup, or get back pain etc. does this mean I have reached full or overeaten?" His answer was you have reached full not overeaten. It has something to do with the vagus nerve and is very normal. If you start doing this you need to stop eating because you have reached full. Burping is just burping something I do a lot of! Hope this helps answer your questions. :)

I don't really feel hungry...very strange. Maybe it's because I drink Protein between meals. My dr said to eat until I feel satisfied, not full. Last night for supper I had 10 bites of grilled chicken and 5 bites green Beans. A typical meal which is the amount he told me to aim for. I stop drinking 30 min before a meal and start again 40 min after. He also told me to don't even think about eating unless I'm hungry and it wouldn't hurt me if I missed lunch now and then. Sometimes I break down and eat lunch at 3:00 pm because I know I need to eat something. Anyone else have this problem?

I found some recipes for sf custards. Some berrys, egg, and pumpkin. That sounds like a good breakfast to me. Quick and easy. One has 1whole egg and 5 egg whites...now that's got some protein!! I think I'll try to make one using vanilla Protein shake instead of reg milk.

Oh please post the recipe. I'd love to see those, esp the pumpkin!

Dense Proteins do it for me...chicken breast and turkey. I will often buy a ready to eat roasted chicken breast from the store...and it will do for 2, maybe 3 meals. I start with protein...and find it easily fills me up and lasts for a long time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
