Are you saying unexpected because its so fast? 32 pounds in a month is more than a pound a day. I can't imagine that it would be possible to lose any faster than that unless you cut off a part of your body. A large part' date=' like a leg:)[/quote']

No expected was correct.. I stopped loosing for a week and I panicked! My Dr told me that I would loose quickly the first few months bc I have 150+ lbs to loose! He said the more you have to loose the faster it will come off! My first two weeks I dropped about 20 lbs, then it stopped! I hit a month today and decided to get back on the scale and I finally lost more! I was stuck and severely panicking! My issues with the whole thing is I see people posting about cheating and still dropping weight like crazy and here I am doing everything right and I was stuck! I'm feeling better now that's for sure!! I just hope I can loose 32 or more lbs. every month! I guess I'm expecting more than some think I should but I guess once the Dr put in my head that I should loose the most of my weight in the first three to six months then I'm totally expecting it.

Devine,

You are going to drive yourself crazy focusing so much on the numbers. I also have more than 150 to lose and was told the first six months are a magic window of time and that I need to follow the plan so I don't end up second guessing myself with thoughts of "if only I had done this" I would be 30lbs less.

Six months of a strict diet is doable and I can certainly follow the plan given to me. We are already one month in. My nut said to stick to around 600 calories and if I am not hungry don't eat. My primary focus is 60-70 grams of Protein and less than 40g of carbs a day.

Right now, I only have the okay for walking but am hoping in Oct I can step that up a notch or two when I go back.

If I do this and I don't stray, I will have done what I should and will not be chastising myself over a missed opportunity. As long as you do your best, be happy with where you end up regardless of the number of days since your surgery. You will get there, its just not an exact science.

Thank you!!!! I know I'm taking what was said to me and trying my best to run with it but deep down when I take a break from life I realize I am worrying too much!!!! I've been thinking things like I'm gonna be the one person this doesn't work on even though I can't eat but a few bits then I'm full as a tick!!!

I'm only getting about 400 calories in a day, I haven't went over 500 or even close. Today I drank 1/2 a shake for Breakfast, 1/2 for lunch, drank about 3 oz of G2 (been feeling dehydration nearing) I've been dehydrated in the past a few times so don't want to chance it and the g2 usually helps! I had some really mushed up chicken for supper! Of course I had Water throughout the day. I can't eat much food without regurgitating so I'm back on the shakes and more liquid or pureed items for a while! I'm sorry I tend to go on and on, I haven't told many people about this surgery so I ramble when I get in here!!!! Y'all are the only ones that I have to talk to about it :))

Divine - ramble away. That's what this place is for. I too, haven't told many people about my surgery, so this group, along with a couple if family members are my sounding board also. Keep doing what you are doing & listen to your body. You are doing great.

Hello everyone!!!!! I had my surgery July 2nd.....and today, I am feeling like it is the worst thing I ever did. I am in week 6 and I can not eat much of anything. Water and a little tea here and there is my food it seems. I did speak with my doctor about it last Friday and he seemed not to be worried. I want to eat so bad, but no matter what I eat and how slow I eat it....it comes up, little at a time. So I just decided, forget it. At first I was very tired and pale. No energy, but I guess because of my Vitamins I have my color back and I am able to walk the halls of the Pentagon. I am miserable. He told me to stick to my pureed diet, I told him, I DONT EAT!!!!!!!! Now, I have tried yogurt, applesause, I did the broth thing for awhile, and now that is so gross I cant keep that down! SO my weight at the time of surgery was 272lbs. Now I am at 236lbs. Let me ask others, is this good weight loss, should I had lost more by this time? Is there something you can tell me to try that I can put on my tummy? What am I doing wrong?

PLEASE HELP!

:(

Hey everyone... I am four weeks out today and I have so much muscle pain under and around the area where the doctor pulled my stomach out... I am thinking maybe it is a hernia but i dunno bc i never had one.... Anyone else experience this? What is the solution? It hurts to move to get down with my kids and play to lay in bed... Any advice? Going to bring it up to my post op appointment tomorrow but i feel alone on this and guess I need reassurance that i am not.

Hey Melanie, I'm 3 weeks out today and i have the same problem. This one incision where, I'm guessing is where they took the stomach out, is still sore. Especially when I bend over. And it feels like there is a bump under it. I was thinking it was scar tissue because they all kind of feel that way. But this one is the worst one. And I haven't lost anything in 2 weeks so I'm getting a little discouraged also. I'm gonna be the 1.9% that this doesn't work for.

I have a pain in the upper right part that is still an annoyance, too. You are not alone. My doc said it was where the hernia was repaired. I did not even know I had a hernia repaired! So of course, ask your doctor but you are still only 4 weeks out from major surgery, be careful to not over do it lifting your kids or the vacuum or whatever. My doc told me for total healing and the swelling will be down completely at about 8 weeks.

im four weeks out and ive gained two pounds how is this possible....feeling down

I'm wondering if maybe you might be close to your monthly, it could just be Water weight. Or, like in my case, it was the dreaded..."I Can't go to the bathroom" thing! Well after doubling up on Probiotics and Fiber and water it finally happened and I was quite happy with the result on the scale...having said that I haven't had to go through PMS yet, was at that point on the day of my surgery, it's about due...so we shall see. Don't get discouraged and don't weigh every day...it will drive you insane! :)

crystalmendza - you're welcome...I never thought I would need to talk to others going through the same thing...but this place is really great! Keep your chin up! Will you always have to continue with dialysis even with your weight loss? I know this will really help.

For those of you still with incision pain. I have found putting a ice pack ( not wet) on the area helps with swelling and the tenderness. I have done this everyday since week two and my soreness is almost gone except for sneezing. I still have to hold my tummy for that.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
