I don't really have a problem with taking bigger "sips" either. Does anyone know the reason for sipping? Will it stretch the pouch if you gulp? I've always been a gulper and its really hard not to now :/

I was told that sipping will help you not get dehydrated, plus taking too big a gulp at first will give the spasms...and I still get those occasionally when a sip has been a gulp, but have noticed that my sips have become more like a normal drink now...but can't do it too fast it still hurts a bit if I do!

Ohh that makes sense. I did take little tiny sips at first but I'm finding now that I can tolerate bigger drinks at a time. Thank goodness. But does that mean the stomach is stretching? Or just healing and becoming less swollen?

I don't think the stomach is stretching, but I think you are on the right track with healing! I will research and find out. I did read, pre-surgery, that sometimes your stomach will stretch a bit if you eat too much, which I just don't know how overeating is possible, at this point. There is a certain amount of stretching and then the stomach goes back. But I will look it up! Any one else with comments on this?????

I can drink normally, and have no trouble with a straw. I can take a big sip or even multiple sips. If I do too much, like I would have before when really thirsty, maybe 4 swallows or more, then it will hurt and remind me. Otherwise, I find it is not much different to drink than before. Thank goodness. I don't have time to drink by teaspoon.

I had two drinks last night with a shot of rum in half of a cup of orange juice...... anyone else tried a drink?

I was sleeved on 4/5 and totally had a terrible first 2 weeks. But, things did settle down and I am getting back to somewhat normal again. Of course only eating a few bites of food is certainly not what most people think of as "normal". I am on my first stay over night business trip right now and I was so worried that this was going to go terrible. I did plan ahead and packed my old stand by of cottage cheese and peaches. I also have my skim milk and Protein Powder with me. But, the food that was served has been OK so far - just felt bad that my company had to pay for my plate of food when I only ate a few bites of the broiled fish and carrots. But, really happy that there was a choice such as this. I also had my 2nd surgery followup appt yesterday and I am down 45 lbs already. I was thrilled! I wanted to tell everyone I saw. :) I don't have a scale at home - and only plan to weight when I am at dr appts - saves me the stress and frustrations of seeing it not move on certain days. I don't think I could stand that - this is hard work and I don't need the added frustrations. I was definately someone who had "buyers remorse" but, know I would have never been able to lose 45lbs without my sleeve.

I don't think you should be drinking alchohol right now. Could be the reason you are not losing weight. I was told not to have it for the first year. Not something I wanted to hear - but, after going through this surgery and all the pain, expense and everything else - why would you not want to give it the best chance possible?

I am so glad to hear - my doctor told me yesterday that I could give straws a try again - I am 6 wks out. I have really missed drinking from a straw - I know it will help me to get more Fluid in.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
