Why do you all keep forgetting me? Oregon daisy is Denise

I do not want this group any bigger. We would not as comfortable as we are now. If you think Susan that another 5:2 group is necessary so new people can find out, we can change the name of ours or something and start another 5:2 We don't restrict ourselves to talking about 5:2 here, and that's why we feel close to each other. We would not have that with new people, and then there would be a lot of pming going on.

I am writing to this guy Nex ( whose nickname drives me insane. apparently , it's from childhood)

I met him in Portland. He was very nice and polite. We have talked on the phone some too. He's kind of hard to talk to , but he tells me to call as often as I can, so we can get to know each other. Then it starts sounding like a game of 20 questions.

Jonathan, I've talked to him tons on the phone . He drives me insane. I never know when he is done talking so it's my turn, and then he accuses me of interrupting him. I know we will at least stay friends though. He's weird, but funny. I am glad I got to meet him, because I would have blown him off if I had only talked to him on the phone.

I am still very bummed about what Rick did. He totally acted like he was my BF for 2 days, then suddenly would not return texts or calls.

I hate this. I would much rather find someone here, but I know what's here. REDNECK HILLBILLYS!

I think we will all do better after the holidays with our eating plans. Please make your fonts bigger because I have old eyes.

Okay, in in a very happy place this morning. New low this morning and I do believe I am THERE! Well, I'd like to be one more pound down for vanity to be in the 130s! LOL. So thankful for 5:2 lifestyle and the control it has brought to my eating habits. I know all of us have different struggles right now and many of you have made or gotten back to goal while others are still in the journey. I will turn 60 (dear lord, just saying that makes me shudder!) in about 3 weeks and am trying very hard to be as healthy as possible since I am older now and don't have the luxury of TIME!

I know at times I don't feel that I offer much to this group but love being included and really love all of you and your, um, exploits! Merry Christmas!

Daisy, that kind of sucks; some men are not the best communicators. I think your entire issue is living in the land of men you just don't care for. I would have a tough time finding someone for sure in a small town setting.

Mark - the archectect seems to be an over-communicator but that is just another communcation issue, isn't it? What's with telephone guy? He is not an native english speaker? Isn't it weird he accuses you of cutting him off? Even if you WERE doing that, a man should never be so rude during the flirting phase. Remember, these guys should be trying to impress YOU! Well Daisy, i guess the main thing to remember is you don't need to find a bunch of cool guys, just one, right? He has to be out there.

Georgia - congrats... woo hoo! You contribute alot, but especially inspiration!

I also am one that has never succeeded at maintenance in the past. I feel a need to keep weight management as the CENTER of my life. I know everyone dreams of it becoming a "non issue" but I just don't think that a woman who got to be twice her "normal" size has that luxury. My surgeon told me that years 2-3 are nearly as important as the first year. What happens now is a predictor of my future maintenance success. I don't see this as dieting, but I feel the need to be ever vigilant. So, that for me means being aware and conscious of my lifestyle choices. BTW, many never obese women do the same thing. It is just the formerly obese that think they can just walk away from it and hope to maintain.

Stupid office party today - I hate junk food and I know this crew, there will be lots of it. Family party tomorrow. My oldest son got double booked so he and his Gfriend won't be there. My EX wont be there even though everyone considers him part of the family. My other son will hopefully show up, otherwise I will spend the whole party explaining what the hell happened to my corner of the clan. Big families are a blessing, but they can be a demanding lot if people don't show up as expected... I used to love the holidays, not so much anymore.

So yesterday I had a Protein Drink and that all until 6pm. Then....PARTYTIME!!! Yikes, I went to a Hawaiian theme party given by the local PBS station for people that volunteered in the last year (or 20). Bar with blue hawaiians, and a buffet full of pit smoked meat and a few veggie choices... so the buffet was not too bad.... except the tray of chocolate covered cookies... had a good handful of those... there was a raffle, and Craig won a gift basket of excellent Cookies and brownies...( :):(:):( )

Im going to have to navigate around those this weekend... I came home, had some Protein, went on MFP and ended up around 950 cals... not exactly a fast day.... but could be worse, did not gain... did not lose... :( It was a blast though. Most everyone dressed up in tropical ware... of course Craig and I looked like we just rode in with the Hells Angles.... Oh well! I forgot it was themed! No one there cared! I even got up and did a hula class with some others for group bonding and humiliation!

Kim I rocked my fast!! 420 calories!!! That is until my family wanted me to bake Cookies while we trimmed the tree..

They want the "old mom" back this has been their theme since last weekend so baking I did. Two cookies are 160 calories! :o I ate 1 1/2 ..

Our tree looks good though :D

EDIT!! Oh shit! And garlic cheese curds!!

I don't even want to know the calories on those..

Dang! Flipping holidays !

Wow - I go to bed, go to work and I have pages and pages to get through...lol

So, yea, Coops I'm Sue - but a lot of peeps call me Coops in 'real' life because my surname is Cooper!  Is this a welsh thing?

Sarsar - your pics are beautiful!  You're so petite and I just love you hair - I am trying to grow mine a little but it is so fine!  *sighs*

Re to pooch - yes I had a full TT with muscle repair in March and the pooch is above the scar.  Not sure if it is still swelling as my surgeon said that until the scar is white swelling can continue.  I know it is minimal but it really does bother me... I need to understand that I will never have a Lara Croft body that I crave!

Oh and the legs...lol... I have a lot of muscle in my legs - and often get comments on the but mostly from men!  They often ask me how they are so muscular and what training I do...lol.  I hated them for a while, but I have learnt to love them now!!

Fasting today - going well so far, gonna have Soup for tea to wrap the day up.

Night on the 'town' tomo = lots of cider and lots of silly dancing!

Oh just remember the accent thing - yea Shameless, don't watch it...lol!  I think it is based in the north of England. I have to say, I sound nothing like that - my accent has a welsh lilt.  My hubby is from the north of England and his accent is different to mine...lol!

I love the accent thing and I can do great impressions...keeps my kids happy for hours!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
