Is anybody doing 5:2? I had 2 really light days this last week without feeling like shit. I might seriously try again. I am 5# from my official goal and really want to see that number again soon!

I ate alot this weekend, but held on to the losses from last week. Down 2# from Monday (my official weigh in day).

I am 163.1... just 5# to goal. The best part is I am fitting into some jeans i haven't worn since spring.. amazing what difference a few pounds make but i need to lose more to get truly comfortable in those jeans.

16 pounds, four months, A pound a week. Yeah yeah, I know I'm supposed to be grateful, but considering how I eat, this is bull$h!t

I'm not doing the 5:2 per se ... more like 16 -8.

I've managed to gain over my bounce since I came back off holiday... and I can't seem to shift below 164lb. I have bought a fitness tracker called UP2 by Jawbone...a bit like a Fitbit. I was using a manual stepper that attatched to my waistband to see my 'average'... so with the UP2 I am just tracking my activity and food over a 7 day period to give me a base line... no 5:2 for that time. Once I can see what I am eating and doing I am hoping I can make adjustments.

Last night I went to a running club in our local park - it was free! My neighbour has been trying to get me to go for months... last week Betty went and really enjoyed it saying that they are a friendly bunch and the beginners group would be perfect for me... So, I went and I have to say she was right. I was very nervous before we started but the coach was really supportive and the other ladies were lovely.... I will defo be going back. My aim is to get fitter and stronger - and hopefully lose a few pounds in doing so, with my ultimate goal is to return to the boxing gym in the New Year.

Florinda, I am totally with you,,, yes 14lb is a great reduction but I also get that it does not reflect the food you're consuming... I get your frustration. I wish there was something I could do or say to make it ok - hugs

I know that tracking is better, but one of the reasons i don't is a lifetime history of tracking and disappointment and saying the heck with it all.

I gained a bit over goal... managed to stop the gains and stabilized for about 2 months. I too was discouraged that i wasn't loosing. Now, I am losing and I am eating very little and being super active and going uber low carb. I feel for the discouragement and disappointment... this is hard

I am afraid to eat low carb while I am supposed to be growing bone. I am not sure what I am supposed to eat.

A few lbs makes a huge difference. I am only 12 over goal (which is a lot to me) but my clothes are like 2 or 3 sizes bigger. some of my tops are XL and I was in a small before. It's discouraging.

Florinda, i am sure you're done all the reading you're supposed to read in order to eat right for your MS. That's all you can do. I know when I went to that discussion about plant based eating, they talked about diet making a huge difference in MS.

I hear you Sheryl on the biker guy. It seems like 3/4 of the online profiles have guys on bikes looking for someone to ride on the back. I am not big on tattoos either.

I wish I could just have bunch of male friends that want to do what I want to do and not have to put up with their stuff. ok I am selfish but I don't want to be a biker chick or go to football games or hunt and fish. No wonder I don't have a BF , just one who wants friends with benefits and I am not into that.

Hell, I am fine with going to ballgames, i even like fishing. I camp, I hike...I shoot guns! but I guess men our age are just as picky as we are and want what they want. Riding on that Harley was physically uncomfortable, it wasn't like the last Harley I rode at all. My hip was in agony. In addition, this dude is early 50s, has already had one heart attack and every meal we had together was either deep fried or some version of shitty bar food. Our last date, I made dinner and he hated it. I served salmon, roasted veggies and a salad with vinegar and oil... he was polite about it, but he hated it. I just don't think we are compatible on several fronts.

I am in home updating pergatory so don't have any time or energy to think about dating, so it is all good.

Denise, I think you should focus on clean eating, plenty of Protein while healing. I don't know about growing bone grafts, but when I was recovering from plastics it was: high Protein, take your Vitamins, eat good nutritious food - no dieting but no junky food either. I complied pretty well because I had a lot of healing to do.

I saw someone today that I haven't seen in probably 18 months ... maybe more. His first comment was "you look great, you look younger!". I joked it must be my new moisturizer but I think actually weighing closer to 160 vs 140 gives me a more youthful looking face. I like my body thinner, but don't care that much. right now, i just want to get back under goal and have a decent bounce range again... and then try to keep my bouncing actually IN that range - now that is apparently the trick!!!

I am very annoyed with the insurance coordinator at the local plastic surgeon. I saw the doctor a week ago Monday and she still hadn't submitted for insurance preapproval! I was hoping tohave surgery in October so I can get the new implant in January and be healed by February - Maui trip. She said insurance takes 10-15 business days so it is 2-3 weeks from now before I can even get scheduled. Damn it! I pressed her to at least get me the preop blood work etc going...sheesh

My Mom and I leave tomorrow for ITALY! I have SO much work to do and errands to run and things to accomplish between now and then, aack! I've already learned how to ask for a coffee, grilled fish, and "no thank you", among other essentials :). I know where the grocery is so I can buy the basic foods I need, and I am taking individual sweetener packets of stevia, so I don't have to use the beet sugar offered at the coffee bar. SOEXCITED!!!!

I'm going to eat like a continental European woman; black coffee and a tiny piece of meat ;)

161.7 this morning!

My goal was to lose a pound this week, so if I can maintain this over the weekend I will make it for my monday morning weight in (I was 163.1 on monday).

I am not down to my previous size because i am not working out like I was, but I am getting more active. One thing at a time.... I can't face ANYTHING else while my house remodel is underway. this is somewhat hellish to be honest.

I am so upset. Remember I had all those tests done on the breast problem? well, one of the labs the In Network Doc used was "out of network". According to my explanation of benefits I owe the lab nearly $4,000. I don't even know how it is possible one lab test could cost that much AND I didn't get to pick the lab. I have been trying to work this for a month and am very discouraged. This is completely ridiculous.

That sucks Sheryl. I am so sick of paying doctor bills. Every time I turn around there is a new one coming in from various places I had no idea were even used. I hope you can get this resolved so you don't owe that money.

The paperwork they sent me home from the hospital with said not to eat a high Protein diet. It said high Protein diets are known to retard bone growth. It said to eat plenty of vegetables. I bought some veggies and dip and I swear it's all going to end up in the garbage. I am not good about eating veggies.

Florinda, I hope you have a fabulous time in Italy! That is really special that you're going with your mom. I hope you have the time of you life, and are able to relax about losing weight on vacation.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
