Florinda sounds like HE is the confused one. I too would feel bowled over but you know he wasn't the one that brought you hope and all those things you said about him... being with him just helped you find that within. Hang onto THAT and let him just fade away.

I took a gun safety and basic shooting class with my friend Mary today. Super fun, learned alot, and we are both good shooting students.

Seattle Seahawks are going to the Super bowl!!!

The sad freaked out I am sick over it news...My EX plans to live in his car. He made me promise not to tell people we know so I have to carry this burdensome knowledge. I am horrified and mad because he has options. He has reasons for his insanity but does it even matter? Counselor says I am in classic co dependant relationship but without the traditional alcohol addiction. Maybe that is why I feel guilty beyond reason.

Dead eye Jane!

Have you ever seen that show "Intervention"? It is a good roadmap for separating yourself from abusers and really setting them up for help without dragging yourself down into their thing any further. Check it out. Its Tough Love.

Please forgive me for being so bitchy but why would anyone with a BMR of 3,000 calories a day need weight loss surgery? If LV were reading I think she might wonder the same thing.

The veterans forum thread about losing too much, a serious problem for a few. I just really wondered when the root cause was a high bmr that existed pre op. I ate about 2500-3500 cals pre op.

Not fasting today, headed to the weight room in a few minutes, going to try to do it myself, hold my head high etc. Also going to try to get in at least 1200 cals without any of it being crap, difficult here! I had a handful of peanuts in the shell just now, before my workout, I'm nervous as to what my reaction to them will be - I ate a single bite, A SINGLE BITE of breaded chicken tender last night and within 2 minutes had an occular migraine!

Florinda, I'm so very sorry about your "friend"...he's an a$$ for unloading on you! Grrrr! I'm not sure how I would handle that, but you are doing the right thing by continuing to workout and hold your head high. Definitely not a good way to end things. He leaves in a month (I think that is what you said?) Anyway, good riddance to him!

Coops, I think you are probably just hormonal...I hope it passes soon. This "womanly" stuff sucks.

I did just have regular white cake but I'm going to not eat frosting anymore that is green or blue or purple etc. I don't know what kind of dye is used but OMG the next day to "see" the colors in the loo (sorry for being graphic) it sure is turning me off from traditional cake, that is for sure!

I haven't been able to fast and today should have been one but isn't. Sigh.

Tomorrow is a double workout day but I think I need to fast...

Sheila, happy belated birthday to you! The cake thing is funny...hey, whatever stops you from eating it!

Coops, what does the lip look like? Will you post a picture? I can't picture it in my head. I think it would bother me, too. But then again, wait and see what the surgeon says, maybe it's not something that can be fixed.

Florinda, I'm sorry about the guy. I just wonder if he was feeling guilty because he was becoming attached emotionally to you and he knows what he has back home. Glad you were able to make a decision about staying. It will be nice to have the money when you do come back to the states.

Denise, did you get an email from Bill? (I think that's his name, hard to keep track of all of the men!)

Sheryl, you don't need to feel guilt about the ex living in his car. I know you know that and it's easier said than done. The guy has had long enough to get his stuff together and find a place. This is his decision. He has got to move on with his life and get better. Hang in there.

Wanda, is there still a low on the scale? What about Curves? Did you check it out yet?

Kim, sounds like you had a great time last weekend. I always say that I think your life sounds fun. I'm sure it's not always fun but your attitude towards life and the things you do is something I wish I had in my life. :)

Fasting today. Doing good. I'm also doing a double work out. I worked out with my trainer this morning and I'm going to the Y to take a step class tonight. We'll see how it goes. I'll be thinking of you, Sheila, with my double work out tonight!

Happy Monday, Ladies!

OH MY GOODNESS, I almost forgot to share my really, really exciting news with my favorite 5:2 peeps! I'm going to post this on the public 5:2 board, too, but had to share with my favorites first!

Ok I started 5:2 I believe in August. I forgot to write down the date. Here are some exciting stats for you...

My start weight was 165. I am now 148. That is a 17 pound loss!!!!!! I would like to lose 10 more pounds.

My pants were a size 8. I am now in a size 6 jeans! I have some 4 skirts. Shirt size is the same, size small. I'm very small on top.

I have lost a total of 10.5 inches all over since starting 5:2!

This is the best part of all, my trainer finally gave me my body fat number this morning...ready.....!!!!!!!!

Started with a body fat of 24.25.

My body fat is now.......18.5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is considered athletic! I am so excited about this. Can you tell?;)

I work out on my fast days and I really think this has something to do with the fat loss. My trainer was saying that my body is going right to the fat and burning it on fast days.

I am so happy so far with my 5:2 results!:)

I haven't been able to fast and today should have been one but isn't. Sigh.

I went to a kiddie birthday party and lunch at my nephews. I just decided I would not fast today.. and pull a 6:1 this week... should be able to do Thursday OK. I managed to get away from this weekend with no gain/loss... Ill take it.

Sarsar!! That is so fantastic! How amazing is that low bodyfat! So glad the 5:2 worked for you too. I think if I crack down a little more/better I should be able to lose maybe 5 more... I would like that, but at this time I am trying to maintain and see what that looks like for a bit.

Coops, If your daft than so am I! You are doing so well too.. I know its still going slower than you would like, but you are still chipping away at it, and I bet the tummy job makes such a difference. Do post a pic if you would like to share, you know us, we want to see/hear it all!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
