I am 5 weeks post op and am already feeling defeated. I just need to vent. So excuse the rant. I lost 18lbs in 3 weeks and have lost only 5 lbs in the last two. Then I get on the scale today and notice that I have gained 2lbs this week. I don't feel really restricted when I eat. I am almost jealous of the people that say they can't eat anything. I can eat a 3oz chicken breast very easily. I feel like I am also retaining a lot of Water. My feet are swollen and I have no idea why. The psychological part of this whole process is the hardest. I feel like its a constant battle with my brain telling me i need too eat something and my body not really feeling hunger. Then there are days that I feel this crazy head hunger and I want to eat everything in sight even when I take anti-acid meds. This process has really tough and now I have learned that I am fat solely my fault. Breaking these mind games is so hard!!

But it sounds as if you are facing it, and you will "win" if you keep facing your brain. Forget the scale, it WILL work, we ALL have slow times / stalls. Don't give up! And 3 oz of chicken isn't bad... how much pizza could you eat in the "old days"...

Don't feel so discouraged. This pattern will continue. I am 8 months out from my surgery and continue to have stalls. Have been in one now for a month, but then last week I suddenly dropped 3 more pounds. Go figure. I just keep doing what I'm suppose to and I know that it WILL come off. Not everyone's body reacts the same way, so make sure you get your Water and Protein in and I promise you the weight will come off! Best of luck to you, it has been so much fun for me to go through this journey. I hope you will look at it the same way in a few months.

What you are going through is very common post op. You will find many people myself included had stalls around that 1 month out point but check your measurements sometimes when the scale isn't cooperating your measurements help. You body needs to readjust every so often causing stalls or slow downs. 3 oz of chicken is not an issue as you proceed the amounts you can eat will continue to increase but track the calories, make sure your getting your Proteins and if your feel like you are retaining fluids make sure you are drinking enough in the first place, if you aren't drinking enough your body may try to hold onto whatever it can. If you put 3 oz chicken into myfitnesspal it shows as 49 calories and 11 grams of Protein, doesn't sound that bad when you look at the numbers does it. Good Luck, and enjoy the journey it gets better as time goes by.

Just went through the 3rd and 4th week stall myself...just keep doing what the doctor ordered and you will see you weight begin to drop again...don't be discouraged..and if you need to munch be sure to stick to Protein items.

I could eat probably 4 slices and a couple cheese sticks! I know that I eat a lot less but when I eat its so easy that it scares me!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
