I had surgery 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I am having a constant sharp pain in my left side. I was having pain in my left abdomen area but it has for the most part stopped hurting. This pain is in my actual side. Has anyone else had this pain? Is this normal?

I talked to my doctor about this today. Sleeved June 19th.

Doctor said that he stitched my left incision to my muscle and it will hurt really bad because the muscle cannot move. He said that its easy to pull that muscle. He said the stitch should dissolve within two to tree weeks. I'm ready for it to!! He also said I may feel a pop when it finally breaks.

My big incision is on the right but yea I too am having left sided pain. I want to say on my waist. I wonder what it is. It hurts when I breathe in and out deeply so I know it's muscular...

Thanks for your help! The pain is somewhat better today. Not so much pain in my side but has kind of moved to my back. I have never had any kind of surgery before and I have nothing to compare this to but my recovery from this surgery has been a tough one. I am a person that doesn't give in to pain or sickness and I have felt like a complete wimp with this. When I have these pains, my mind immediately goes to I have done something wrong and I am going to be the person that this surgery does not work for. I go to the dr. tomorrow for my post-op follow-up so maybe I will feel better about my worries. I have lost 23 pounds in 4 weeks (with pre-op diet) so that is exciting. Thanks for your reassurance!

I too am ready for some dissolving to happen. Thanks for letting me know about the pop. I might have thought I had popped something that shouldn't have popped.

I have pain in my right side. Doctor said kidney stone and I'm dehydrated. Better go see your doctor just in case.

New Mommy: Just curious. Has your stitch popped yet? I went to the Dr. last week and she also told me exactly what you said. Mine has not popped but I am so ready for it to. It doesn't hurt so much any more just feel some tugging when I move. I am finally able to sleep on my tummy which makes me so, so happy!

Yes!!! It did yesterday. Did not hurt at all. My stomach as smoothed out and I have zero pain now. I was standing outside talking to friends and put my hand on my left hip and it popped. I don't sleep on my stomach. I've never liked it. I'm a side sleeper and it still hurts. I think it's because my belly is big and it hangs which pulls my incisions.

Wow this makes sense as to my pain and my stomach being dented!!! It has gotten better, but still have some pain for sure when I move certain ways! Can't wait until it goes away! I'll be two weeks post op on Tuesday!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
