August 2013 Roll Call

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on Monday. I've done pretty well. I've had a little pain in my lower left side since yesterday afternoon. I'm hoping this will get better after they take the drain out. I've been walking too. I'll get the drain out and the leak test In about an hour. Then I'm headed back to the states! Time has flown by! I'm sure hoping I'm doing really well by Monday. It will be my kids first day back to school and I'll be returning back to work. Best wishes to all!

August 19th is my surgery date too! I live in a rural area where support groups are non-existent so I am thrilled to find you all!

Mine is Aug. 19th as well.

Today I am 9 days post op. I am now on puréed foods. My teeth are still feeling redundant! I have had no pain since coming home from hospital on day 2 post op. in hospital the only pain med was I V Panadol. Yesterday I worked out on MFP that I am getting about 300 cal a day, which must be why I feel a bit washed out sometimes. I don't have to count anything yet, that will come with the next food stage. Today I am allowed to take my dressings off. I have 5 entry sites. During Surgery a small hiatus hernia was repaired, apparently this is quite common. Next week I am allowed to drive again! I have lost 2.7 kg (6 lbs) since Surgery and 8 kg (17.5 lbs) since the beginning if the pre op diet. Luckily I don't work but I would not feel like going to work just yet. My surgeon has stressed that this is Major surgery and despite my looking and feeling so well there was still a lot of repair work going on inside. I am enjoying reading all of your posts and many of you make me laugh, it is weird that I feel so aligned to you just because we have the same surgery month!

I'm 6 days post op. I went back to work today ands drove today. I can't wait to be on full liquids. The night before surgery I weighed 277lb. The day I got home , 2 nights later I weighed 283. Today I weigh 262lbs. I hope the weight keep coming off, I just want to add some thicker stuff to my meals. I feel really good just exhausted. :)

Scheduled for lapband to sleeve-8/9. CW-279. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Has anyone else stopped pain meds early after surgery? I haven't had any since day of surgery. Should I be worried? I was never in much pain' date=' just nauseated. But, that subsided too.[/quote']

No, that's a good thing. I haven't used it either.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
