Clothing swap anyone?

Recommended Posts

Another option for too-big clothing is Freecycle. That's a network of local gifting groups that encourage people to give away things they don't need, and ask for things they do need. Of course, it's not just people who've had weight loss surgery, and it's not just clothes. It's basically open to anyone in the community, and allows posting of any item that is free, legal, and appropriate for all ages. On the plus side, since it's a local exchange group, there's no shipping involved. If you want to find your local group, go to Freecycle.org, click on your area, and then find the group closest to your home.

C'mon ladies..... Go to the thrift store and TREAT yourself! It is always fun to buy clothes in smaller sizes.

Even though I think it is very generous for people to give away their bigger clothes, it is more "therapeutic" for us to have the "pleasure" of shopping for those smaller sizes.

Just fyi, our community has an annual fashion show for any/all participants and it is a HUGE clothing swap.

I am in Reno, but if you lived here you would know about it.

Hi Pam,

Please be 'sensitive' to each individuals situation. Even at thrift shop prices (and some are NOT cheap), not every one can afford to keep buying clothes that they can only wear a few months, or even weeks. Many folks on here are giving up their savings to self pay for this surgery, to save their life.

What I'm saying, is if someone wants to swap, and feels good about it - please don't knock it. :clap2:

Hey guys: I think I will love to shop at the mall when I can fit into clothes sizes that I would like to publicize.

But until then; now that I am on losing mode. I get a kick out of going to Macys etc. and noting the top brand name clothes over $50.00 per piece and then go to the higher end thrift store and search for those brands. I love to find deals!

Last year when I lost some weight I did this in lieu of binge eating. I really had a good time doing it, but as my weight inched its' way upward I lost interest. And now I am totally into it again.

I like to dress up but my size and my shape makes it difficult and a chore verses fun and girly.

But soooooooon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can ship someone a variety pack of 26-30's. Some great stuff for spring, though I'm not ironing the blouses for you.

Oakie has first dibs, but PM me if you are interested too. Just don't ask for pictures because I am in the process of moving and simply don't have time. I am 5'8", btw.

I am in need of some size 24/26 stuff to wear to work. I am a high school teacher, and I wear mostly big tops and pants.

Would be happy to pay for shipping. Live in Rockwall/Dallas Area too, if you would allow me to pick things up.

Poodles, PM me an address, and I will send out several tops I know I have----and check the pants. Do you ever do any "jumper" style dresses?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
