BMI of 39 - anyone have to gain weight for the insurance to cover

Hi! I'm new here....wondering if anyone had to gain a little weight to be covered by insurance? I am 5'6" and 241 and in order to be a 40 I'd have to gain six pounds. I don't think I have any co morbidity. Healthy as a horse, just fat!!!

I think gaining 6-7 pounds is worth it if I have to pay $150 versus $10-15k. I just can't afford to self pay.

Thanks Kelley for the note..I unfortunately do not have the funds to self-pay (unless of course I win the lottery in the near future :), so will have to stick with whatever I can to make this happen...hoping that WW responds to my email to perhaps speed things up but not holding m breathe on that.

Hopeing your recovery is going well.

Congratulations!!

I wore weights. Little ones in my girdle..went to bathroom before my exam.. Put them in my purse. My doctor knew i was low bmi and knew i was gaining in purpose. My major thing that put weight on was pop and bread..by the last visit i didnt need the weights:/

I was in the same boat. I was lucky to have my appointment in January' date=' SO I wore heavy clothes, drank 16oz, ate something, had heavy jewlery on, and some change in my pockets. Hahah every ounce counted. I weighed in with a BMI of 40.3.[/quote']

Lol I wasn't as smart! After gaining 25+ pounds when I only had to gain was about 5-8 I heard of people using ankle weights and wearing double clothes etc lol
