February 2007 bandsters!

Recommended Posts

So travelgirl~~~ your in Kansas? What about this~what are you doing tonight??? What about you ON YOUR WAY HOME just stop by the Curves and only go on for 15 minutes; don't stay the whole 30 minutes, go only for 15.

You know.... when I go for my eliptical I always say I will go for 15 (which gets me there and it is a time committment that I can keep to myself and 15 is really always doable but 30 seems like sometimes is just not doable) so then 90% op the time I start losening up and like the conversation with the lady next to me and stay for the whole 30 minutes.

What I am saying is though~ by the end of the week by committing and going for 15 minutes 3x a week is better than going -0- minutes and I am healthier for it.

If you were standing in front of me right now you would be able to see my body language and you could see what I mean!

So..... after all that are you going tonight for 15 minutes?

Travelgirl

Going from a snug 24 down to a comfy 22 is HUGE! That jump is a MAJOR NSV! And you were banded on 2/5/7 I love it!

So are you planning on wearing shorts this summer? Of course you are! I am smiling so big right now and everybody at work thinks I am chatting on a porn site. (my silly co workers have filthy minds) I am sure they can not understand how much I love lapbandtalk and how uplifting it is to talk to other people about how well they are doing and how happy everybody is.

Ok, so I live 30 minutes away from where I work, and Curves is near where I work. SO, yesterday, I didn't bring my workout clothes, but I decided enough excuses, so I went to Kmart at lunch and bought a $6 pair of shorts and worked out after work. I brought my shorts today, and I am looking forward to my workout tonight. (for the whole 30 minutes!) :)

Hi Lise, I'm feeling good, I'm back to work [cosmetics at Walgreens] which is 32 hours of on my feet running all day which is a good thing. I have started mushy soft foods, it seems like one day I'm hungry and the next not as much. I am really tired after work which is to be expected having just had surgery 2 weeks ago. Anyhow I have to run now, talk to you later, Sunnysea:D

I finally got to start the gym routine now that I am two weeks post op. I am starting to get a lot hungrier now than right after but hoping the excercise addition will make up for that. Not that I can still eat a lot, no where near pre band of course, but still takes more than I think it should to feel full. Normal??

I posted about this very issue a few days ago, I think in this thread. My doc told me that at some point (it's different for everyone) before my first fill, I will get VERY hungry, and will be able to eat more than I think I should be able to. All this means is that the swelling is going down from surgery. He said that this is very normal, and even expected.

Ask your doc when you can schedule your first fill. It's usually around 6 weeks after surgery to be sure that ALL the swelling has gone down and you're completely healed from surgery.

My best advice is to be patient with yourself, and don't stress too much about how much you're able to eat, especially since you're only 2 weeks post-op. You're still healing, and you need proper nutrition to do that.

Hang in there, you'll make it!

Hi. Im' new. I had my surgery on 2/12/07 and already lost 40 lbs. Everything has been great except for one eating snafu which thankfully I found answers on this site about.

One question though - it feels like my port protrudes slightly. What is other peoples experience.

Thanks - Liza

Absolutely.. I am THE SAME exact. I was banded two weeks ago today.

:clap2: :messenger3::clap2: Today was yet another fabu day. it's about 3:08 and the weather has been perfection except now I believe it's going to start raining.

I still feel sore in the a.m. when I'm getting out of bed but I haven't had to take ibuprophen or ANYthing.. which is HUGE for me. I walked across & back the road to our other building this a.m. (takes me about 5 min.) to the wellness center to get my measurements. She's going to do them once a month for me.

After lunch I walked for about 35 minutes. I can't say this enough.. it is so nice for my lower back to not hurt when I'm walking for more than 2 minutes.

I called to book my 1st appointment for my fill and the earliest they can get me in is march 27. One month to the day. I just hope I can behave long enough to maintain the 20 I have lost if not lose more.

I don't think that I have any restriction, HOWEVER, I am getting full quicker. I think that because of the pre-op diet and the 3-4 days of swelling, what happened is that my stomach has shrunk so the portions I am eating now are what I would consider a 'normal' portion to be. I know if I pushed it I could eat more, but I'm trying real hard to 'listen' and stop when I start feeling a little tight and not drink when I eat and wait an hour after. I sure am burping a lot though. Would I be burping this much with no restriction what so ever? I can drink like normal too.

ANYwho...after walking I get real tender around the port area for some reason. It last about 20 minutes then settles down.

I finally got to start the gym routine now that I am two weeks post op. I am starting to get a lot hungrier now than right after but hoping the excercise addition will make up for that. Not that I can still eat a lot, no where near pre band of course, but still takes more than I think it should to feel full. Normal??

Tracy,

It sure is great to hear you feeling better! That is so cool that life is looking up, the pain is less, and sounds as though the other yucky things are going away! Yippee!

I have to wait until 3/23 for first fill. Going to follow your wisdom, and even though I can eat more, I will not!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
