Teacher - Include me at that slumber party!!! LOL!!

Since the surgery the only gas pain I have had is in my left shoulder, at the neck. It is still there!!! And it makes me want to cry; at work today was the worst and now it is back again. My belly is itchy. Yes I know that means I am healing, but I was also allergic to the steri-strips. Now my port feels like it wants to jump right out of my body. I wouldn’t mind right now maybe I would be able to sleep on my stomach or left side. I still get that swallowed a bunch of balloons feeling, especially at night. I am not able to burp. I am so uncomfortable……Ok I think that I am done. I know that everything will get better. We all should be happier in a few months when the weight is coming off and we don’t feel like someone beat the crap out of our tummys.

Kelly, ten days ago I felt just like you. I was fed up with the pain in my left shoulder and unable to sleep on my side. Today I have no pain at all and I am sleeping as if I hadn't had the surgery. Take as much analgesia as you can and ride it out. Hope you feel better soon!

Can I be invited to the party??? I too have that crappy gas lodged in my left shoulder and I am a side sleeper. (left side). The gas in my stomache wells up and I cant burp for anything....I used to be able to. My stomache itches like crazy and Im scared that I will claw my incisions open. HMMM lets see what else.......Oh yeah...for the first 5 days I could not get enough liquids down so now my skin is dry as a lizzards. I hate Protein Shakes. Im tired of broth.

So is that enough for me to be invited yet??? I could go on if I need to.

*waiting for my invitation*

Kathy

Woo Hoo, a party!!! I like that idea.....especially if it involves a trip, and one to nicer weather! For some reason, we did not get snow all winter, and today in the mid Atlantic states we are on our way to a nice snow storm!

I still get the rib and shoulder pain on occasion, and it still hurts, but much better than before.

Kathy, I still felt like you do a week ago, so just think it will get better. I know, I think of my poor husband, going through the 6 month pre-op hoop jumping, and my aches and pains are scaring him! Also the still hungry part is making him think twice about going through with it. I hope things get better with the first fill, then he will see that it is still worth it!

In my opinion sisters and brothers.. that's what this forum is for. it's not all sunshine and roses.. we will have our moments and we should SHARE those moments.. it helps others. The main thing for me, while I was typing up my little rant.. was guilt. I remember in January before approval.. reading similar pity parties and thinking as someone who didn't know... "will I ever have this opportunity... I can't believe people are complaining.. I would give anything to be in there shoes..." and there I was.. being a complainer.. but don't get me wrong.. no regrets.. so, if there is anyone out there that read my whiny post.. keep in mind.. I'm still thankful, I'd do it again.. but there are emotional issues and physical aches and pains that go along with it.

Nope, I agree, no regrets...maybe we just thought this would be so easy, right from the begining.

I know that I thought at least that the surgery part would be a breeze, because I had my gall bladder removed in Novemeber, and the surgery and recovery went so well, no pain, easy to move around, blah, blah. Even same type of surgery, (laproscopic). Never had the gas type pain, (Kerr's Sign), either.

So, will work on this, and it will get better for us!!!

I was banded on Feb. 13th I didn't get gas till about 10 days later in my shoulder luckily it only lasted about 3 days. I am still a little tender and week but no complaints except I have three weeks till 1st fill and I am so hungry. I was losing great but leveled off the last 4 or 5 days maybe I am eating to much or the wrong things hopefully this will change after fill

Good Luck to you fellow Banders

Terry

Thank You Louise!!!

Kathy, we were also the same exact weight at surgery!!!

Kelsy, Congrats!! My appointment is tomorrow too. I can’t wait to get on that scale. Who ever thought that I would say that!!!

I also have no regrets about having the surgery. My family and co-workers have been very supportive. This was my first surgery so I didn’t exactly know what to expect. All the information I had going in to the surgery came from my doctor and you guys. I know we all are very blessed to have been able to have the surgery done. I know a few people that have been declined because of a few different reasons. Even though we vent, it doesn’t mean we are not happy. I know I felt better today. Not just physically, but mentally. Once I got those guilty thoughts out of my head, it cleared. I hope my other party people are doing better. Don’t worry I am still singing:music:!!

Ok....EVERYBODY CAN COME TO THE PARTY!!!! Kathy You are Invited!!!!

I have no regrets either. Just thought this would be a piece of cake...so to speak...but these pains three weeks after surgery are no piece of cake I've ever tasted, and I've tasted Alot of cake!! I'm down 22 pounds since surgery...that's good, that's real good. Don't see it...that's bad. Stomach still swollen..that's bad. so......"It's my party and I'll cry if I want To" !!!!

Gday Feb Bandsters, Well I have bad news. Yesterday I saw my surgeon for my first post op check up and fill. He was happy that I had lost 7 kgs. He then attempted to put my first fill in. After trying several times he told me that he thinks that my port has flipped!

I went to hospital in the afternoon to have it looked at under fluroscopy. The port has come away from it's sutures and is moving around freely. When they looked at it, it was at an extreme angel, and they told me it may easily flip. They were somehow able to turn me on my side and put a fill of 1ml in it. I have to go back to my surgeon in three weeks time. He mentioned that I may have to have revision surgery to re implant and suture the port. I can't believe it. I was only banded last month. I don't want any more pain.

I knew that you can have complications with this surgery, I just was not expecting any five weeks out.

I read all your posts daily and am proud of you all. Well done.

Susannah

Susannah I am so sorry to hear of your complication. I can imagine your frustration of having to have revision surgery not to mention having to heal all over again. Just remember this time next year when you're slim and gorgeous all that you're going through now will be well worth it and a distant memory. I really hope everything goes well for you. Keep us informed of how things go.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
