What happens to the removed part of the stomach?

Is it just thrown away? Is it suitable for organ donation? Do you get it tanned and display it over your fireplace?

My doctor sends it to pathology, looking for something, but I can't remember what. I did get a couple of pictures from surgery, when they were 'in there'. Ick, ick and double ick!!!!

I have a photo of my stomach and my hernia. They sent mine to pathology and found cancer so they kept it there for more testing if needed by my oncologist. If they find nothing they dispose of it as a biohazard.

I'm really, really hoping that my surgeon will at least save mine so I can see it "live and in person" (to curse at it, or cry for it, I dunno...) Pictures just don't do the same as live! I laughed SO HARD at the menudo comment! Hahahahahaha....

Mine was sent to "pathology" and then I assume was disposed of with medical waste.

My surgeon gave me a video of my procedure. Imagine all the fun we'll be having at future holidays and family reunions!
