The 5:2 diet

Recommended Posts

Yes, original 5:2 plan based on 25% of TDEE (average woman 2000 man 2500). Knowing most sleevers do not eat anywhere near that I just used the same I was using daily which was between 1200-1300 and the same as regular 5:2ers fast days 500 calories.

I honestly can't remember when I started I believe around first of June. As of last week, I had lost 18 lbs. bounces up a couple today after a great weekend with friends which really kinda surprised me when I had walked a whole lot and even though 3 full meals a day didn't feel like I had overeaten but hey, I had a great trip and know it will be off this week.

I am very happy with this eating plan and know I will regain my original goal soon and Coops, maintain long enough to reset my SET POINT! LOL.

And we're off! Tuesday. Fast day one. Almost 10 and haven't eaten yet so I have a nice 14-15 hour "rest" window first thing. Here's wishing all of you that are on your 2 day a great and EASY one!

I think I must have started (edit) near when you did, Georgia -- or very soon thereafter, cos this was my seventh week of doing it (time flies!). I fasted yesterday, ended at like 530 cals, so did just fine. Wasn't as rickety in the afternoon as I have been, and wasn't desperate to eat when I got home, so I consider that a good thing.

I'm going to fast on Thursday this week instead of Wednesday, just to see if changing days does anything (and cos I have a social thing Wednesday night lol). So far, it's probably just good that I'm not gaining...? But no real loss to speak of yet. I'm still fine with that, but let's see how it goes... Maybe 70-ish kg is my new set point so I will have to wait a while to get past it...

had a good fast day Monday, an ok 'feed' day yesterday, but today has gone t*ts up! Eaten lots of biscuits! Heads in the shed today -been tough in work and my kids leave for a two week holiday with my parents, so I'm feeling a little stressed! I'm not organised with my food at all! Gotta reign it in now, will have to be really aware of what I eat for the rest of the day and I'm going to Curves later to try and get rid of this stress. I think I need to up my exercise now to get rid of some of this stress!

*deep breathe - and repeat; I can do this, I can do this...*

It's interesting when I read that others are calling themselves a failure because they went over 500 calories on their fast days, I think "no that's not a failure, it's success..." But when I do it, "it's another failure!" I know that we are human and even when I ate over 500 calories on a fast day, I still dropped some weight. So even though I recognize this, I still beat myself up. I really need to love myself like I love everyone else on here.......That actually eating more than 500 calories on a fast day is what it is and it's a lot better than eating 1200 calories, plus I see the difference the next day.....I am working on loving myself more than I love food. These are my thoughts and we are all beautiful people working on the same goals. I'm just so afraid I will let my guard down and gain weight back. Such a fear to struggle with for the rest of my life........ Phew, I've got that off my chest.

BTW I will be gone for 8 days too and most likely will not be fasting. If I get a chance I will be checking in to see how everyone's doing. :P

Yeah, we just have to decide if we want to keep a giant long thread here, talking about how our 5:2 eating habits are coming along, or update over at how was your 5:2 day.

I only started that one because this one was getting so long.

I am down to 145. I am so excited. Last summer I got really sick and didn't eat much all week and I went from 148 to 142 in a week. As soon as I felt better, I gained it right back. I haven't been able to get below 148 since then.

I am really excited that I haven't gained back what I have lost on fast days! I 've only been doing it for a week and a half.

Haha, tits up! That was my fast day yesterday.

Organization that's a problem this week here too.

I didn't do a proper shopping trip this week and that's impacted my choices for sure.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
