Gotta get blood pressure down before 6/24 surgery

I just went for my preop appt Friday and I was put on lisinopril with the warning if my BP wasn't down by my surgery date, it would be postponed. Has anyone had this happen? I'm so scared now it will be delayed because I've been monitoring it all day and its still been 134/94 range today. I just started taking it Friday.

Well my BP is down some since I have been taking meds. It's usually in the 120's over 90 something. I'm not sure how to get the bottom number down. I have been very strict with sodium in my preop diet and have been walking some.

Great! I think the preop will help a lot. Are you on liquids only? My BP has been perfect since I started my preop. It is amazing what taking away caffeine and salt can do. Good luck! My surgery is one day after yours.

I am on liquid only for the most part but they said I could have cottage cheese and cheese sticks. my bp has come down but the bottom number has still been around 93/94. Im hoping the 116/94 range will still get me in surgery on monday!!

Something I do when I get my bp taken - is that I meditate (close my eyes and think peaceful thoughts and go to whatever place that makes me feel calm) - it always works. Also, call your pcp and ask if you can take an additional 10 mg of lisinopril?
