Would soggy cherrios hurt?

What does you dr say? In my opinion.. No Cheerios. Your staple line and stomach is healing and anything but liquid is not a good thing. If you need to chew on s/f Popsicles. Hang in there and be wise.. This will pass and you'll be well on your way

He wants me on liquids 3 weeks. :( :(

Liquids is HARD!!

How about Jello? That's considered liquid.

Does he count sugar free Jello as a liquid? If so that might give you the sensation of something of substance...

You just have to do what you have to do..

That means following your doctors orders.

I know it's hard but you need to look at this part as NOT A DIET, it is making sure you stomach heals from major surgery. Just think about the fact that they went in there a couple of days ago and cut and burned off most of your stomach then stapled it back together threw a couple of stitches in and now are waiting for it to heal back together and over the staples...

definitely stay away from the cheerios!! i know it's hard on liquids. are you getting any Protein in? the Protein will help keep hunger away. try a Protein shake if you haven't already. i honestly don't know if you are experiencing TRUE hunger or not, sometimes when you feel hungry, you are actually thirsty. also, there is a TON of "head" hunger going on at this stage. I still experience that too.

Cheerios at this stage could probably really hurt you :( don't want you having to deal with that!! it'd be much worse than hunger!

Just goes to show how each Dr. is different. Mine just cleared me for full liquids (purees) today. I'm 1 week post op. I can totally relate to your misery as the clear liquid phases (pre and post op) were really, really hard for me and I was actually allowed to do Protein Shakes. Hang in there....

Okay :( My husband froze some of my Protein Shakes in ice cube trays, then blended them...it wasn't the best but it felt like something other than liquids, try it with other liquids too!

First, you aren't really starving...most likely you have something called head hunger. This is tough and you really need to stick to the Drs. plan as it will allow you to heal. Second, are you taking a PPI? Gas build up and acid in the stomach area can feel like hunger but it really isn't. Lastly Cheerios are really bad food, so please avoid them if you can. Be patient and keep busy, try walking since you are only a couple of days PO. You will get past this, but it takes a bit of effort on your part. Hang in there.

It's the Premier Protien shake from costco. It has 30 grams per 11oz.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
