You're about to get flamed.

Heh, no. People may attempt to flame but that shite simply has no impact on me and only serves to show others up to be immature and overly self involved :-)

I strive for authenticity. Saying thank you felt right after seeing the self entitled demonstrate their ungratefulness. So if people want to try and flame me for showing gratefullness and being true to my own principles? Good luck to them.

I still walk away happy in my self and with my choices.

Let's clarify things....

We will never charge our members for membership to our community. Regular membership will always be free!

We're planning to offer a premium membership option in the future. This membership would include no ads on the site or apps, free eBook downloads, upgraded food and weight trackers, more storage and other premium options.

I hope this clarifies things.

Thanks for the heads up! Out of curiousity, may I ask as to when we can expect the launch of the new membership? Sounds like you all are making it worth the little extra. (although hard to tell until we know the cost.)

Thanks for the excellent work you all do!

LousieC' date='

I'm sensing you might be a tad upset by my comment...

Alex is my hero! He's like superman I've said it many times!

:D[/quote']

No, not upset. This is a forum, I come here for information exchange and get about as much emotional reaction to what I read here as I would visiting the library.

I find that sad. :( I have experienced many emotions here when sharing and listening to people's experiences..

I have also read a great many books in the library. Books that have elicited an emotional reaction or two..

I truly care about many people here and will be their cheerleader on this new life.

I, too, find many things sad. Such as the sense of entitlement I saw in this thread and the petty, immature nonsense and flaming attempts i have seen. So perhaps I didn't express myself well. I don't get upset or bothered or angry or irate etc by stuff I read here. Moved, sometimes. Sad, sometimes. Upset? Nope. Strong emotional reaction? Not so much.

But then, I use this forum for information exchange, I don't find I need to seek the support etc here that others clearly need. I have an amazing family, great friends and a full on and demanding career. I get most or all of those support needs met there. I am blessed and grateful for that.

I don't come here for the support etc like many others appear do so it also makes sense that I don't seek the emotional connections that others seem to seek from these online interactions.

It is not that I view others as wrong for seeking something different, far from it, I view it as normal. But it does help others to understand not everyone turns to these forums for the same thing. We all come here with different and/or varying needs. It is wrong to assume that those others asking, responding, and reading the forums here are all going to react the same.

:-)

Vive Le Difference!

Edited to add- and if I was at the library and someone was really rude to the librarian, I would probably react the same way as I did here. Apologise to the librarian for someone else's rudeness and be sure I was grateful to the librarian for their service. Maybe that means I would be hero worshipping the librarian, but who cares? I do what i believe is right and strive for authenticity in my interactions. I may have a 'how rude!' respnse, but, trust me, I am not upset by it. I leave the library and carry on having a great day.

My Louise,

Such a lengthy response! See?? you do care! :P

You are most definitely right we all come here for different reasons.

I realize some need support and some want to give support and others like you, just want to stick to getting and giving information..

And I do agree in your librarian analogy, it would be disappointing to see someone mistreat the librarian and i would most definitely show my gratitude to her also!

But if I saw someone asking the librarian, what I saw as a silly question? I would not go so far as to belittle or make fun of that person for what i might perceive as a lack of knowledge. Or apologize to the librarian for what i might perceive as that persons lack of knowledge..

I am not in the business of judging..

Anyway I hope you do indeed have a nice day!

I have two coral tanks calling my name! So off to testing and Water changes :)

Bye!

This brings back my college days when I was required to take Greek Mythology. For the life of me I couldn't understand why or where I would correlate it in my future. Now, I know. You are a classic example.

*shakes head*

Greek mythology is not as good a teacher of the subtleties in the art of sarcasm as a contemporary Glaswegian childhood.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
