Just had surgery 4 days ago and Im starving

I have been hungry since I woke up (i think!) my stomach is growling and grumbling but when i eat / drink anything (water, broth, protein shake) i can feel it traveling to my stomach and it hurts... any ideas?

I'm four days out too and have a lot of gas. Gas X strips help with all of the gurggling. I've not been truly hungry at all and I'm not allowed to have protein shakes at this point, only clear liquids.

Gas! The rumbling and noise is NOT hunger. Well, you could be starting to feel hunger (I'm 4 days post-op, too, and I am), but it's not overwhelming.

Please don't be offended by this, but it's one of my "pet peeves." Try to change the way you THINK right now. You're NOT starving. You have lots of calories in storage. You might be hungry, but you CAN and WILL survive that...starvation implies something way more serious, and, I think, when you think that way, it just makes how you feel even worse.

It'll get better! Just remember...SMALL SIPS.

it burns and makes noises - is this hunger or gas?

I am having the same problem. I was sleeved May 8th. Was only getting about 400 calories in daily but almost all my fluids. My stomach felt like it was starving. I also have had diarrhea since last Sunday which is making everything much worse.

Added several meds today: Immodium for diarrhea (two doses finally worked...yea) Pepcid, and Probiotics ( I was on antibiotic for UTI)

I expect the Pepcid to help with the noises and discomfort. A lot of people also suggest omnezoprol for the acid.

Our bellies are virgins, and some of us are more sensitive than others.
