Down over 140... The Process: Finding My Personal Power
This is the most amazing post I've ever read! You are a TRUE inspiration, by facing your past and fighting back day by day. My favorite part is when you said "The old me believed that self care meant whatever felt good. The new me knows that self care can never equate to self destruction" Wow.... POWERFUL!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

51 and Getting Sleeved 8/8 !
Jeanie, I'm 52 and was sleeved 2 months ago. It's one of the BEST decisions I've made in my 52 years, right behind marrying my wonderful husband and having kids! You've made a great decision and it will help you live a long and active life as a result! Kris

Travel foods
There is a new turkey/apple jerkey by Butterball that is very good! I travel all of the time for work and take a little soft side cooler in my bag with string cheese, turkey jerkey and Luna protein bars.

My Primary Doctor was PISSED
I guess I'm really lucky because my Primary Care Physician had the sleeve about 3 years before I had mine. He looks amazing and has been my biggest cheerleader. He had some complicatios, but says that even with a difficult road, he would recommend it to anyone struggling to get and keep the weight off. I feel like the doctors that bash it really don't understand it.
-
Can you believe this?
I had so much damage from my band that I had to let my stomach heal before they could do my sleeve. I'm now 6 weeks out and LOVE my sleeve. My life is so much better!!!

"I don't care about weight loss right now."
I love your doctors response. He hit the nail on the head.....the early weeks are all about healing and adjusting.

Is there any other protein besides shakes in phase 2?
Premier Protein ready made shakes are thin and easier to get down than the thick shakes. They come in Choc and Vanilla and you can buy them at Cotsco and SAMs.

myfitnesspal and your opinion
I log everything bite that goes into my mouth and everything I drink. It helps me keep track of not only my calories, but my protein, carbs, sugar and water intake. I also input my exercise which helps keep me motivated as well.

5/20 sleeve what are you eating?
I was sleeved May 14th (so just a week ahead of you). For the last week I've been eating grilled salmon, grilled tilapia, tuna salad, chicken salad, and meatballs. I also eat thin sliced turkey wrapped around string cheese, laughing cow cheese or a slice of avocado. I also do well with cottage cheese or scrambled eggs. I just started eating veggies this week - cooked carrots, green beans, zucchini, and yellow squash, if I have enough rom after protein. I still drink a protein drink in the AM until my sleeve feels "awake" and able to tolerate solid food.

AVOCADO?
- AVOCADO?
Avocado is a completely natural food, not processed, so clean eating. Yes, they are high in fat, but good fat. My NUT encouraged me to eat them!- XXX rated super serious question!
I'm not letting my husband Google it! Right now he is fixing me an egg several mornings a week. Those days will be long gone once he knows an alternative protein source!!!- XXX rated super serious question!
LOL....the things I read on this site crack me up! I'm just three weeks from surgery so much to my husbands dismay, have not partaken yet. I can't wait to try and log this into MyFitnessPal!- May sleevers results so far!
Sleeved May 14th and down 25 lbs!- When can we drink soda
- Not getting enough protein or liquids in
I really like the Premier Protein ready made shakes. I buy them at Costco. There are 30g of protein in just 11 oz, so was able to handle them early on. They have been my saving grace! I also sucked on SF popcocles and crushed ice in the early days after surgery to stay hydrated.- Oh oh oh, its MAGIC!
I'll have to try Central Market next time I'm in Dallas. I guess Waxahachie HEB just isn't up with the latest and greatest, though it is an awesome store!- Where Is Everyone From?
Waxahachie, TX!- Feel good still weak
My NUT told me to add Apple Juice to my water, puréed fruit to my yogurts and cottage cheese, and drink skim milk if I can tolerate dairy. She also suggested a little Cream of Wheat for breakfast. I carefully log everything into Fitness Pal, so she can clearly see my intake each day. This isn't a license to go carb crazy....we all know that's one of the things that got us here. She just suggested trying to get 50 g during this healing phase. At 15-20 carbs a day, I wasn't getting enough to give me the energy I needed to feel better.- When?!
I'm sixteen days out and still can't sleep on my stomach. As you can see from this thread, everyones journey is different! - AVOCADO?
