I had surgery the day before, on 4/29, and I am still quite sore on my big incision where they took the stomach out. I stopped taking pain meds on Wednesday but I'm still pretty sore.

kristy26--can I ask how long you take to drink your Protein Shake and how many ounces you manage? I am one week behind you and just curious. Thanks!

I was on my first. I have progressed to soft foods per my doctor. It going good. Everyday I try something new. No pain, no soreness. I walked 3 miles today. The longest I've walked since before my sleeve. I've also had no complications

I am doing very well. I had my surgery May 1st. Last week, I went to the gym and walked (slowly) 2.2-2.5 on the treadmill for at least a half hour each time. My tummy is still a little sore, especially towards evening, after I have been up all day. I am getting along well with my blended foods. I have actually taken some lean cuisine or smart ones dinners and put them through the blender. Yesterday, I had a baked chicken with stuffing and mashed potatoes. I blended the chicken an ate the mashed potatoes as is. I could only eat half of each. I'm having the other half today for lunch. It tasted good and it has quite a bit of Protein in it. I had pain when I ate or drank, right where the food enters my stomach, but that is gone now. Someone told me it was coming from inflammation due to the surgery itself and would go away. It did!!! I am glad, that really hurt.

My biggest thing I am working on right now is a reaction I have to one of my Protein supplements. It is called Elite whey Protein Isolate in French vanilla. It is a powder and I had been mixing it with skim milk. If I take it at night, it makes me have a BM as soon as I take it. I have taken it 2 times in the mornings and both times, I broke out in a sweat, my heart raced and I felt like I was going to pass out. Someone suggested it might be the skim milk. Last night, I mixed it with Water and I had a BM immediately. I'm thinking it is the supplement. I am much more sensitive to it in the mornings. I have $40 worth of this stuff. I think I am going to only take it at night until it is gone. I found a liquid whey protein shot (3.8oz) with 42g of protein. It is like a thick cool aide or a runny Jello consistency. It isn't bad and I have no reaction to it at all. I think I am going to stick with this in the future.

I have lost 18.6 lbs since my surgery. I started at 262 and weighed 243.4 this morning. I am pleased! I have some days that I just feel really tired, but for the most part, I feel good. I am lucky to be off from work until the 1st of June. I really think my body needs this time to recuperate. Especially since I seem to get tired pretty quickly. I am keeping my Water intake to 48-64 oz a day and protein to 60-70 grams plus taking all my Vitamins. I really need to find Calcium citrate in a chewable form. The ones I have are huge and I have to break them in half to take them, 3x per day.

I hope all you other May sleevers are doing well! If you have any suggestions for me, please let me know!

You are lucky getting all your Vitamins in I'm only getting them in once a day they gag me and make me puke in my mouth it's nasty. I hate chewables. I go to the doc today so ill find out what they have to say. I also tried that same French vanilla Protein and hated it. I just ordered sugar free carnation and I have plain injury to add to it. I can't find a shake that I like I tried a bunch and have spent a lot of money. I'm not getting all my protein in right now either. I'm not aloud to have puréed food until Wednesday and I can't wait!!!

I have been eating cream Soup, sugar free popsicles, and sugar free pudding. GNC makes a chocolate caramel Protein Powder mix and its to die for. For the most part I am excited about my journey. My family says they can really see the weight loss. I can tell in my clothes. Wishing all the May sleevers the best of luck!!

I was sleeved May 6th, 1 week ago. I am sipping on Water through out the day but I can barely drink my Protein Shakes :( I bought a different brand today so fingers crossed. I was 232 day of surgery and I am 218 today. Pretty happy with my results but I need to get this Protein thing under control. Still having some pain. Also having pain when I drink at times. But I just try to slow down. One day at a time. Good luck everyone!

The Unjury website has quite a bit of Protein options. There is a starter kit with small packets of all the different kinds they offer. I am thinking of ordering this. There is a Soup broth that looks good. They also have a protein cheese sauce, but it is out of stock. I am a cheese lover and I am thinking of a whole lot of ways to incorporate the cheese sauce when I get on soft foods.; eggs, broccoli, etc. sounds good! ???? I am getting my protein in, but I don't look forward to it. Hopefully I can find something that tastes better than what I am using and that will change.

I had surgery on the 2nd. Still sore, mostly on the left side, and can't sleep comfortably at night. I'm a side sleeper, and I'm nowhere close to ready to roll over.

Other than that, doing well, still hard to bend over, but getting better.

My diet has been pretty good. Here's what I have in a typical day:

Breakfast/morning -

1 scrambled egg with half american cheese single slice - 10g Protein

1 chocolate premier Protein shake - 30g Protein (takes about an hr to get the whole shake down)

lunch -

some homemade veggie Soup I made and pureed. I used MFP to calculate, it's 6g protein per serving

either cottage cheese or yogurt, depending on which I feel like. 10g-16g protein

dinner -

same as dinner - or eggs. I'm having a hard time knowing what to have for dinner. I'm not ready for meat yet, but I want to try pureed chicken salad or deli lunch meat soon. usually around 10g protein

then I have another premier shake in the evening - 30g protein.

So I'm between 90-100g protein a day, and my calories are around 800. I feel great and I haven't been hungry since before surgery! :)

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
