Are you on regular food or soft food? I know they have lots of seafood at Japanese places. A baked or broiled fish? Or if you like sushi you could get some sashimi

With Japanese food, its easy to stick to some broiled fish or some sashimi..along with some steamed veggies..i would stay away from broccoli as its gas causing. Even something like a miso Soup might be good..

I did very well with the stir fried veggies and beef.. The only really great tip I have is stay away from the rice. It still kills me!! Have fun!

Yum!! I love sushi! Can't wait to have it, But I still have to wait a few more months!

I think a stir fry with some beef or chicken would be bomb! That sounds good! Now I want Japanese food! :P

Well...I tried steamed shu mai (the little shrimp dumplings) and learned that 4 is my limit - after eating 5 and having to excuse myself to run to the ladies room! Still all trial and error. I only got to try one piece of the salmon dish I ordered - had cucumber and avocado with a yummy ginger dressing - no rice. Would stick with that next time. Thanks for the advice all!!

I order hibachi shrimp and ask them to hold the rice.

OMG ! I wish I seen this before you left :P

In the first couple of months I could only eat 1

Order of salmon sashimi..

It's funny because at 6 months I just now ate some shumai at a Chinese place this weekendI think the wrappings on the dumplings would be the cause of your troubles. :)

Suffice to say - lesson learned! Would definitely stick with just the fish next time!! :)

What a lesson! Hehehe... I've been one of the lucky ones I've never thrown up, and to have to do it at a restaurant :o

Oh well at least you don't have to count it on your daily totals!

I should say there was I few times in the beginning that I wish I could of thrown up! :P

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
