Sleeved tuesday home last night

Hi guys. Surgery went great. Was supposed to b in the hospital 2 nights but was doing great so the let me come home last night. I have to stay on a liquid diet for 2 more weeks. Not a problem as I'm so thirsty. The told me the biggest challenge will b getting enough fluids so that's what I'm concentrating on. Stomach is making nasty noises. Probably from gas and bad heartburn. All in all I'm doing good but worried about getting enough fluids. Ill keep checking in to let u know of my progress.

Yes, day by day. I am doing better today and find that creamy liquids (creamy soups and protein shakes) are going down much easier than plain water. I also had a few SF popsicles. Those count for at least 2 oz!

What kind of creamy soups? I thought the were high in carbs/sugar. I'd die for a creamy soup

Oh, honey, as little as you'll get down right now, I wouldn't even be thinking of carbs! :) I got some cream of chicken and cream of asparagus, from what I've read, they are good as long as you strain them so you don't have any of the little bits. Throw some unflavored Protein powder in them too for an extra boost.

I'm having surgery on Thursday, I hope you're both doing better each day. I'll be having the same struggle soon enough! Good luck!

Cream of chicken, cream of potato, and cream of tomato have been wonderful. My NUT suggests any creamy soup at this point, but these ar the only ones I care for so far.

Congrats on your surgery. How was the pain afterwards?

My pain was manageable, but my advice is don't try to be brave and not take the pain meds once you get home. I have gone down to a lower dose every 6 hours and my goal is to be off them at 1 week out on Tuesday. The biggest challenge for me has been learning what a sip actually is. When I forget, I'm in trouble for a few seconds.

So glad you are doing well "sister sleever". I'm going to try the creamy soups this week and see how it goes. Dying for tomato soup. I just had sugar free jello and put a dollop of low fat cool whip on it let me tell you it was the most satisfying thing I've eaten yet. Thanks for the tip and updates

I haven't tried jello yet, but your suggestino of a dollop of FF cool whip sounds yummy! I am adding it to my grocery list right now!

I hear ya. How are you doing? I think I had a turning point. Clothes getting very loose. Tummy swelling going down and lots more energy. Jello with a bit of cool whip is my go to food when craving. Doing awful on protein. Going to the vitamin store today for powder protein. Think that will work better. Also getiing more cream soup. That was a life saver. Thank you. How are you doing

I am glad to hear you are doing well. I started getting most of my protein and fluids in on Monday. It was like all of sudden I could swallow a normal sized drink and it made all the difference in the world. I really like the Oh Yeah! protein shakes. That's the only way I'm getting in the protein. If I drink two of those a day, anything extra is just for taste. I up the protein on soup, by mixing it with 1% milk. Each ounce of milk has an ounce of protein so I've been trying to double dip. I still haven't tried the jello yet, but hope to get some when I go out tomorrow for my post-op appointment.

I must be feeling better because I am starting to go a little stir crazy. I even logged into my work laptop today and read some email, but don't tell anyone - I would hate to break the rules! LOL

Congrats to you on your post-op journey. I wish you success.
