How much is too much?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! My insurance only required me to get a letter from my PCP and a psych eval to do surgery. Got the psych eval done yesterday and my letter from my PCP a few weeks ago. I called this morning to find out if they have received everything to submit to insurance. I didn't hear anything today. Do you think I should be "that person" and call again tomorrow? I really need to have this surgery this summer otherwise I'll have to wait till NEXT summer... I live in AZ and am being sleeved at BGMC if any if you are familiar with it. Any advice??

YESS!!!!! Call them twice a day if you need to. They are working FOR YOU!

I mean, be polite and patient, but don't ever hesitate to call when you need something.

Let me introduce myself. I'm Squeaky Wheel. Otherwise known as "THAT PERSON."

Had I not been That Person, I would have never had my surgery.

Nobody CARES about your needs but you. You don't have to be mean. But, you MIGHT have to be assertive. Look at it this way. You're playing their game by their rules and doing everything expected of you to get approval.

The insurance company works for your company. They are expected to do their job. If their rules states you qualify, and you have met all the criteria (their rules again), then they are expected to respond in a timely manner. So BE That Person. And Rock On.

If you just got your psych evaluation yesterday, it may take a few days for him or her to write up your report? Or do did they give you clearance right then and there?

Thanks ladies. I am worried because it sounds like there are quite a few processing problems with the CCs there :-(

Laura- I went to the same location I'm having my surgery (BGMC) so it would be processed that day. I had to wait a month for the appointment, but I figured it'd be worth it so I could get everything done more quickly and then things couldn't be "lost" when faxing things.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
