I'm on full liquids! But even Water causes a hiccup type reaction that is rather uncomfortable

That would happen to me and I would just take smaller sips. I could only tolerate maybe 15mls (1/2oz) every 20-30 minutes

I would take small sips but make sure you track and keep an appropriate amount of fluids in you. If the discomfort is to much to handle don't hesitate to call your doctor remember your the reason there in business they are there to help.

Yes I had pressure sometimes and I think it was the carbon dioxide they put inside me trying to reabsorb. Walking around helped move it out.

I had my surgery on 4/22. I found this b/c I was searching to see if people have similar issues. At the hospital they wanted me to drink so I did but each time felt weird an awkward. Sorta like My my chest and abdomen were a pinball machine and the Water I put in there was getting knocked all over the place.

My Nurse suggested that I drunk something warm and that did help. I've heating up chocolate Protein Drinks and sipping them like hot coco.

Dr said I could eat anything I could get through a straw. So right now I'm eating pudding. My issue is I can't tell I'm full. I can't actually tell I'm hungry either....

Any one know how to tell when your full?

When I'm full it gets uncomfortable to drink another sip. I try not to get to that point, though. I feel like I'm always watching the clock to make sure I don't overdrink. My stomach has rumbled a few times but my brain hasnt told me I'm hungry. When I hear my stomach growl I usually grab a Protein Drink.< /p>

I'm on day three. The first day I would get that reaction with even the tiniest sip of Water. It would send a gurgle down my whole stomach, sometimes causing a sharp cramp for a few seconds.

I'm home today and onto full fluids. I've had some Protein drink, Tomato Soup, and a Popsicle. All is going down okay as long as I take my time.

I tried yogurt but that didn't fly. Guess it's too thick for me still. Day by day! But what you're feeling sounds perfectly normal to me.

Day 3 is even easier. My body is still a pin ball machine, but it doesn't hurt as much so that is good.

Try standing up when u eat it helps the liquids go straight down b/c when I sat down and ate its like the liquids are trying to find its way thru a maze, and it gave me indingestion!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
