Hospital Bag-What to take?!

Recommended Posts

I will be sleeved on Monday 4/22-I'm packing my bag for the hospital. My doctor said 3 day/2night stay. Any suggestions/advice on must-haves for the hospital?

As little as possible. They gave me clean gowns each day and this was easier to deal with than my own pjs due to the iv. Take lip balm, clean undies and a few toiletries that you think you will need. Other than that, everything that I had in my bag was not needed. :)

I took my nook eReader and didn't use it. Happy i didnt bring my lap top or iPod. Bring hair brush. Pajamas will make you feel better. Gas X for the gas. Chap Stick. supportive people. Tooth brush and soap, Shampoo (even though the hospital will probably give them to you).

I really just watched TV, walked to release gas and tried to sleep (cuz every time i started sleeping a doctor or a nurse would walk in). I didnt think of anything else.

OH CELL PHONE CHARGER... i had left mine at home. Good Luck!!!

Small lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, and lip gloss. My skin was itchy after getting pumped full of fluids like a balloon and I like my lotion better than the hospital ones. I also preferred my own gown, robe, and slippers.

Keep it simple. All that I used from what I packed was my clothes. I wish that I had brought a phone charger. For some reason the hospital ate my phone battery like crazy & I hardly touched it. Maybe some biotene would have been nice too.

Definitely a pillow and a phone charger.

I brought a pair of pj pants to walk the halls, phone charger, gas x, clean underwear, baby wipes since they wouldnt let me take a shower, chapstick, and a pillow for the ride home.

I'm trying to figure out what to take also... I know a lot of people say they didn't use most of what they took, but I'd rather have it and not use it than be without it. My support people are all an hour or more from the hospital where my surgery is taking place. I'm only expecting my parents to be there on surgery day and go home day, so the day in between I'll be on my own and won't be able to ask someone to bring something for me.

I'm getting some of the new spray-on kind of body lotion (I think Vaseline makes it) because bending/stretching might be difficult. I'm taking facial cleansing wipes, lip balm, some baby wipes, deodorant, toothbrush/toothpaste, biotene mouth spray, gas-x strips, a glasses case, my cell phone and external charger (I don't want to deal with cords), Listerine strips, a hairbrush, a couple of pony tail holders (as I tend to lose them), maybe a notepad/pen or a couple of magazines. I'm also taking a robe and slippers and asking my parents to bring me a pillow for the ride home. As far as entertainment, I think my cell phone will provide enough. I'm just hoping my external charger has enough juice to get me through the whole stay. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
