For me, it was a couple of weeks or a few days less. The first few days, I slept with enough pillows to make my bed like a hospital bed with the knees and back raised. I used a couple of pillows under my knees and three or four behind my back. I'm a side sleeper too.

When I woke up after surgery the first thing out of my mouth after "Uuuughhhhh" was "Can I get on my side?". They said I could and propped pillows under my tummy and behind my back. Felt so much better after that. When I got home I did the same thing and slept great.

Yes - the pillow works very well. I used one for a good 3 weeks post op. I could have never slept w/o it.

I slept on my sides immediately. That was the only way I could get sleep or relief from the gas pain. I should add this was after the anesthesia wore off enough for me to move. I was on my back until then.

I slept on my sides immediately. I wasn't even aware I had a drain until I got up to pee.. Heh, then I was bit more careful not to bother it if I slept on that side

I slept on my side immediately, in recovery I was on my side the whole time and I was there for 8 hours. I used pillows behind my back for support. I was also could lay on my stomach no problem but when I told the dr. that he said absolutely not for at least 4 weeks, we would talk about it at my 30 day follow up.

Sorry in advance if my story scares anyone. The first night I tried to sleep on my side was in week 3. I had this weird sensation that I can only relate to a feeling like when I was pregnant and had little arms flailing around inside me. This was unfortunately my intestines flip flopping. They twisted like one of those balloons you make animals out of. As my meals progressed to more solid food it created a full obstruction and I wound up in the hospital for 10 days and had to have a second surgery to correct it. The worst part was my Dr kept insisting I must have eaten something I shouldn't have to cause the blockage, that is until he got in there and saw what had happened. I also reminded him that I had been emailing him since week 4 suspecting I had a problem. It was not anything I had done but just a freak thing, I tell people this because it is a potential complication to be aware of.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
