A look around my Garage... so ready for this surgery.

Recommended Posts

Today my husband and I cleaned up and organized our garage, and it made my heart hurt a bit. I hate that I have a garage filled with adventure waiting to happen, but that right now I don't feel good enough to do any of it.

One wall holds our Kayaks, another our hiking/backpacking/camping equipment, another our bikes. (see attached pictures).

When I started working on my health 7 years ago, my heart starting yearning for adventure, and while I have been on some amazing hikes, bike rides, and kayaking trips at this weight, it still holds me back (though I am 75 lbs down from my heighest weight) and I get so frustrated at the fact I'm slower than everyone else.

I'm so ready to have this surgery!

So what adventurous things are you looking forward to, or what new adventures are you experiencing now post sleeve weight loss? I need to hear some encouragement from my fellow adventurers!

If I'm truely finally going to have it out with my attachment to food, I need to be reminded why it's worth it. All that stuff in my garage does remind me, but I want to hear it from you guys!

I'm taking my nephew who turns 13 in May ziplining! I've always wanted to do it since it became popular, but never wanted to endure going up to the ticket booth, or actually the landing to get the equipment and bein embarrassed by being told that I was too big for the equipment or exceeded the weight limit for the course. I'm down 69 1/2 lbs since Nov and I can't WAIT to go ziplining!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! You will do great, and I promise when you get on the other side of recovery from your surgery, you will NOT regret the decision. I actually went shopping yesterday and for the first time in my life ENJOYED it. I actually SAW that I was getting thin! I did the happy dance 3 times while I was in the changing room when I tried on each of the 3 outfits I picked out. They ALL fit, and the ALL looked good! I might actually enjoy shopping!! I've even come to the realization that I'm borderline Obese, and ONLY 30 pounds overweight! I've NEVER been able to say that. IT's so exciting and so rewarding. Can't wait to hear you tell of your adventures!!

Yep, you are going to love post surgury. I had quit walking the dog, my knee hurt too much. Now I am out there walking the dog double the length & doing running intervals. Incredible for me.

Riding my bike, my friends are laughing as they try to keep up with me, I have been putting the months in at Water aerobics & now the weather is good and I am biking around zoom zoom.

Kayaking, I use to judge if I was "OK" if I still fit in the seat of my kayak. Last year I still fit but I was too weak to carry it & just felt unsteady. It is going to be so much easier this year.

Snowshoeing, oh God, it use to be hell to bend over in my tight snow pants & get in those snow shoes. And then when I fell, arrggh, will I ever be able to get up? This year my pants were falling off, I could almost dance in my snowshoes.

Telling you all this will encourage me to walk even farther tomorrow. I want to be ready to do a 5 mile hike in rocky terrain w/ as much ease as possible. I have been practicing walking on small boulders, never was good at it, now I am 80% good. YOU ARE GONNA LOVE LIFE.

I just started martial arts classes, which is something I've always wanted to do. I didn't feel too out of place with the young kids (and the instructor is HOT HOT HOT)... and I kept up. :) I'd have never had the nerve before to even start.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
