15 days post op and freezing!

Recommended Posts

I have lost 26 lbs in the last 15 days. I feel great, a little tired but I am freezing cold. I am taking my Vitamins and trying to meet Protein and Water requirements. Lets just say I do better with protein than water. Lol! Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm sitting here in sweats, socks, hoodie.. my boyfriend is in a tank and tighty-whities. I'm FROZEN. Last summer was soooo hot here in the city, I maybe this year won't feel so unbearable.

Yeah, my husband sleeps with a sheet and I slept with 4 blankets and a space heater and was still cold. Finally i just broke down and bought a 0° wilderness sleeping bag and have been sleeping in that every night. Lol

Same thing for me for a couple months after. Finally about the 10 to 12 week mark I started feeling back to a normal temp, now I'm fine but we've had a couple of warm days already this spring and it hasn't bothered me like heat has before. But I'm also not shivering cold like I was right after surgery.

I have always been hot, freezing everyone else out... Well not after surgery, I have been fully dressed everyday, including jacket or sweatshirt and sometimes a blanket. My husband was sure something was wrong. But 8 weeks out I'm not back to normal but able to got without jacket in the house.

I have been crazy cold! All I can say is whoever invented the heated throw has my undying gratitude forever!

So, do you immediately feel this cold in the hospital right after surgery or does this happen after you get home? Trying to figure out what I may need at the hospital to keep warm if its immediately. Thanks

So funny you guys I had that problem for the first month or so postoperative- but now it's gone I'm currently three months out. Everywhere I went I was wearing a jacket! So, apparently it's pretty common :)

For me, it started in the hospital directly after surgery but I think it was fear and the drugs. They put lots of blankets on me then I was fine as long as I stayed bundled up. It really got worse after I got home. Just couldn't get warm enough but truly I think the heat from the heated throw on my tummy area helped with the pain. So it was good. It's 65 degrees here and I am wrapped up in my throw on medium. My pup loves

it too! At night we are like peas and carrots under that throw! :)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
