Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Good Day, Girls!

Well, things with my TOM appear to be clearing up some, and the scale has shed those extra pounds I had on. Don't know if its Water weight, the fact I got a fill and feel so much better with restriction, or the combination of both. But Dee, you can put me down at my original weight when this challenge started. So no loss, no gain. But I'm okay with it. I think things will start moving for me again soon. I've given up ranch dressing for a while. I use far too much of it. Man that stuff is fattening! Trying a balsalmic vinigerette. Not my creamy fat filled ranch...but has a third of the calories. It's growing on me.

Thanks for sharing the pictures of Mini's pre-surgery get together! I see someone shared a Protien Vial with her. Mini~ wait a week or so before doing those. They made me nausiated too. Sorry about your ride home. Man, that would be rough and painful. Also...those vials are good when half of it is mixed with about 8-10oz of Fluid. Water, diet cran juice, or something like that. And ice cold...(like a delicious Coors long neck...:scared2:oh oh! Sorry!) If they get warm they seem to smell/taste kinda skunky. (protein supplements suck!)

Dee~ did you see yourself in that picture??!!! OMG! What progress! You look fabulous!

Mal~ you too! I haven't seen you in forever and you look maaaahvelous!

And Brandy! What can I say? I think you look perfect!

Mini~ you looked excited! Its a crazy ride, but so worth it! Welcome to the adventure!

Tenn~ Welcome to the board! Come share your trip with us!

The complications with the board yesterday was site wide...not just our thread. I saw lots of people posting about it. It's working better for me today. How about you all?

Okay...enough blah blah blah from me today.

Have a great day!!!:tt2:

Good to hear things are better Anita!

Yup! I loved those Protein shots, so I bought some more and shared with Mini-girl. I hope that isn't what made her tummy upset! I had them refrigerated the entire time, since purchasing them!

Thanks for the compliment. I'm still struggling with my appearance. I feel so much better than I look. When I see myself in a mirror or something I get so depressed! I do think that picture looks good, but it's because Brandy and Mini are hiding most of Dee!

See you Honeybunny!

dee~

Don't worry, Dee. Those vials don't need to be refridgerated. You can do anything with them. The only horrid suppository I had to use for nausea was when I had one of those. It was like only 3 days after surgery. Maybe they take more to digest than you would think. Who knows? Where do you get yours? Do you order through that discount internet company that Lap found? Or do you get yours in Denver?

And it seems the poor girl didn't have an anti-nausea suppositories or that new stuff he gives for under the tongue.

I get mine from the Aspen Grove GNC on Santa Fe and Mineral.

Hi ladies. I drank one of the bullets the day before and it was fine, so I don't really think that was it. I think it was the headache that caused the nausea. I'm just not sure why I had the headache. It's still loitering, but getting better over time. I just had a second popsicle, so that was good. I think tomorrow I might try some Isopure or something.

Hey Don't Call Me a Lady!

I'm too young for that!

Anyway, you got a Dietician and an RN on the case - so that's why we have our assessment hats on.

Glad you had a popsicle! I remember my first half of a popsicle after surgery in the hospital, it was so good - I asked for a second half and I thought I had over eaten at Thanksgiving! Yikes! Who would have thought one full popsicle would have done that!?

Yay, Mini! Glad your feeling better!

Dee~ do you mind if I ask how much they cost there? I really need to start sipping on them again and getting back into my bandster rules. They have gone up to about $2.85 at my store. Thought about mail order. Its only $5. for shipping through them.

I'm so ready to start losing again! Must stick by the rules and lose like I was. I think I just got happy with where I was at. No more knee or foot pain, more active. But I'm ready to lose another 20lb!

If I remember correctly AND I might not be! But I think it was $2.85. I know the Isopure I bought that day was $3.99. I returned to the Band wagon this week and I think it's helped a lot. Actually, I just returned to measuring everything (i do well with that for weeks and then stop for not reason!) and only eating when I'm hungry. Nothing after 7pm, no simple sugars. I really want to lose 20lbs by my 6 month Bandiversary! Which I know is probably very unrealistic, BUT I'm going to try. I've lost 14lbs in 6 weeks. I just have to kick up my cycling and get back on that Bandwagon!

Funny how those rules make it work so well, and yet our nature is to migrate away from them. I think you can do it, Dee! I'm pulling for ya! Dr. K. really let me know how important exercise is. He said he has recently gone to a couple of semenars that have really emphasized that. Man I wish I liked doing it. I have my Wii Fit though and I'm gonna get with it! It is kinda fun for exercise.

Gonna run for now...its hotter than blazes out and this house has no AC. I'm running to my mom's to have dinner and cool off!

Have a great one!

I have some of the under the tongue pills but started retching after I put it under my tongue. I've taken two of them today though so that's better.

Okay, girls, now I am getting worried/anxious! Retching on the flight?? I am flying home the day after surgery....what do y'all suggest I do to avoid that kind of nausea?

What are the Protein bullets? Isopure? I need to find out about all this stuff!! Does the dietitian give me that info when she calls?

Does one of you have a list for a post-op emergency box??

Dee: I didn't get the pix with you in it...Can you send me one?

The pix of the three of you looks great!

Deb, I don't know what happened but I don't think it was a usual thing. In fact, I think I would have been fine if I had flown back the day before, cuz I felt just fine then. I almost feel like maybe I picked up a virus or something. Who knows? But don't let it worry you unduly. I really think it was a fluke.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
