feb 2013 sleevers weigh in

Recommended Posts

Feel so left in the dust...everyone is loosing so much that was sleeved the same time as me..yet I am in stall at 47 pounds lost since being sleeved 2-27...

Don't get discouraged, my weight loss stalled and then I started losing big numbers. I felt that way after my brother in law who had wls 5 weeks earlier 90lbs in 14 weeks. 47lbs is nothing to dismiss. Have you ever lost so much in such a quick time before in your life?

Don't feel bad. I haven't hit the 40lb mark yet. I was sleeved 2/28. I used to get discouraged when i read what some have lost bu not anymore. I'm just happy to be losing. I worked with my trainer last night and its the first time in a long time that I looked in the mirror and saw a shape. My kangaroo pouch is going away.

I'm thrilled

You are doing well! If you survey "most" people who were sleeved in February, the average weight loss (today) is between 40 and 60 lbs. You are right in there! Even those who have lost less than that will experience the same results in the end!

You have actually lost 7lbs more than I have. I was sleeved on 2/28/13. Stalls are normal and happen to us all. It's just your body making sure your weight loss is gradual. If you average your weight loss, you are on your 14th week. That is 3.35lbs per week. Not bad at all.

I don't stall but only lose 1-2 lbs a week vs others who lose 7 lbs in a week and then stall for two weeks. Everyone is different. I suggest graphing your weight. I use my fitness pal. It lets me see intervals at 1, 2, and 3 months. It helps me keep it in perspective that the overall all trend line is going downward. That helps and then just looking at my thighs (with clothes on), they just look so small! If you haven't read a clothing size chart in awhile that gives me excitement, I look at the measurements for a 2x and compare it to my current size of a missy 14. Stay positive!

I am very excited. I feel like i've gotten my life back. Not only has my weight loss given me more confidence in myself' date=' oddly enough I created a new goal of saving money. I know, I know, I know those two things seem to not have anything in common but when I was bigger, I spent a lot on fast food and went out with friends and family to constantly have dinner. Now, I don't find it too fun going out to eat so I go to the park with my 9 year old son and we walk or jog all while saving money. I looked at my bank account and realized that I was spending an average of 610.00 on restaurants per month and that doesn't include groceries! So now I have made it a goal to put the money I would have been spending on food into my savings account. I am amazed at how fast it adds up. My kids are no longer allowed to ask for Mcdonalds etc. I made home made cooked meals for them everyday and I only buy what I need on that day rather than filling up a cart food of groceries.

I come to this forum because I love to hear everyone's stories. I get excited when I hear someone is about to go into surgery. Even if I don't them personally, I feel like I do. We all have something in common and can relate. :)[/quote']

Great job! I wish I was saving! All that $ is now going to new clothes!

Had my 3 month check up today. Down 64 lbs, 25 inches and 5 sizes.

Great job! My 3 month check-up is tomorrow. So far I'm down 57 lbs, though I

have been in a stall the past two weeks. Regardless, I am very pleased with the

results. I did go from a 54 waist to a 44, so I'm not complaining!

Unfortunately, I can't buy clothes right now because I don't know where I will end up weight wise. I'm 15lbs from reaching my goal weight.

I put on my size 11 jeans today. I was a size 14 before. It's only 3 sizes down but I've always had big hips and a big butt so I think that even at my target weight of 125, the smallest I will end up at will be a size 8 which is what I wore in high school and I weighed 108.

Four month surgi-versary is next week. I'm down exactly 60 lbs. I put on a pair of blue jeans the other day I have not worn in 12 years. Those are my

"maybe someday" jeans. That made me feel better than watching the scale move. As many people have noted, there will be weeks you will lose inches

instead of pounds. Either way, it's a win/win!

Its killin me. I dont have a scale to weigh myself. Last time I weighEd was three Weeks ago. I was down 50lbs since the surgery then 73 all together. Now I wonder what I weigh ive lost 9 inches around my hips thats all I know. Its frustrating and exciting. I'm gonna have to break down and buy a new scale. My old one got left behind when I moved a month ago :/

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
