I've yet to get all my Protein in. Doing great with getting enough liquids though so I'm calling it a win!

Actually made a road trip yesterday and drove myself home today.

What's been an unpleasant dose of reality is the realization of just how much I actually ate simply because of stress or boredom. I'm mortified.

I agree completely!! I am finding that I am "hungry" during times that I am bored at home or driving a distance. It's silly. I am glad we are not able to eat food yet. I hope it helps to set some new habits.

I was sleeved on the 4th' date=' and the only real problem I am having is that I can't stand the Protein supplements. Any helpful hints?[/s']

Try power drinks u mix yourself with milk they taste much better. Put ice, milk and Protein Powder in the blender add a pinch of instant coffee and a small amount of sugar free chocolate Syrup. Blend it up and its really really good!

Sleeved last Monday. Sneezing is so hard. I keep a pillow close and try to grab it. Coughing is hard. I have drains and I don't think that helps my discomfort.

I can't always keep a pillow around as I'm back to attending University. Coughing is okay as I don't have any discomfort or pain. And thankfully I had no drains but I can imagine the discomfort with that and the movement and force caused by sneezing.

I had that realization too. All I could think about is "no wonder I got so big!"

Only issue I am having is I am HUNGRY. How the heck does this happen? This started on post op day 4.

I don't know but me too. Not every day but definitely have been. I have no problem eating and have a hard time telling if it's 'enough'. I also can drink pretty much like before (big sips). I am glad in one way I'm not suffering through eating but sometimes I wish I was one of the "few bites and full" people.

How are you losing so much so quickly? I must be a slow loser. I had surgery on 3/6 and down 11 pounds from that day. Including preop diet I am down 25. Can you tell us your routine? I'm just curious what we are doing different. My routine is this...

Every 2 hours I take 3oz of a Protein Drink getting a total of 60 grams of Protein everyday.

I sip Water all day long getting about 60 ounces a day.

I started pureed food to try out... Yesterday I had ...

2oz of oatmeal ( breakfast)

1oz potato/tomato Soup (lunch)

1oz pot roast/sweet potato/stock (dinner)

I also take supplements...

3 BariWise Multivitamins

4 bariatric Calcium tabs

12 drops of b-12

2 Fiber chews

I'd love to hear what others are doing.. This is all the food I can get down right now. That's why the amounts are so little. I don't think I'm getting any kind of nutrients out if it as of now

New whey Liquid Protein shots. 3.8 oz' date=' 0 carbs, 0 sugar, 42 grams of Protein. Never had an issue getting all my protein in thanks to these. Not the best tasting thing, but it only takes 3 gulps. I can't focus on how things taste, that's how I got to be 350 lbs.[/quote']

Where did you purchase the Protein Shots? I've found the more I drink my Protein Shakes, the more I hate them.

My starting weight was 368. I think that works out in my favor. Also, I wasn't loaded with a bunch if Fluid at the hospital. I was 8 pounds down when I got home.

I honestly don't have a set routine yet. I do a Protein Shake in the morning. I drink water all day. Im on soft foods so I have puréed chicken for lunch and dinner varies. Meatballs, taco meat. For a snack ill have a slice of cheese. I need to start increasing my protein up again.

I am 2 weeks post op down 19lbs, still having trouble with getting in my fluids. I also do the New Whey Protein Shots, got mine from the Vitamin Shoppe. They are not the best tasting but the do the job. The thing that is Super Annoying is not being able to swallow easily, still forget sometimes I take a gulp and OUCH!! Also the restriction drives me crazy, sometimes I just want to eat and get it over with. Well I eventually finish eating a half of cup in 30-45 minutes. Hey there are worse things, it just a serious lifestyle adjustment that you only can realize after you have this done personally.

Thank you for that info. I didn't get postoperative instructions. I'm going at this alone so any info like this is very helpful.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
