The Good, the Bad, but Mostly, the UGLY

Are the shots for two weeks standard for everyone?

Not me. Doc's regimen is a baby aspirin a day for 3 months.

I got massive heartburn like you would not believe. I thought I was going to die. I've been taking Prilosec now for almost 2 wks and that should cure it for awhile. Yes, I agree with others. Never trust a fart. And I do get hiccups after I eat. But they go away quickly. Lately, I've been getting nauseous almost every day for the past couple of days and I don't know why. One of my wounds came unglued and it scabbed worse than the others, but thankfully no infections at all. I'm still very tender in my gut. It's still too tender to wear tight jeans or tight fitting waistbands. I seem to be very constipated more so than not. I take a stool softener twice a day and still only have one BM a week if that. Other than that, I don't have much to complain about at all. Awesome thread! I've learned a lot about how well I've had it! Thanks everyone for contributing! Good luck to everyone!

Happy to report that for me, day 5 post-op I have had very little "ugly". First day I was nauseas and had hard hunger pangs. But once they adjusted my meds and I stopped the pain pump, I felt really good. No gas pains, no Constipation, no drain, thankfully. Walk walk walk. I've been home two full days and have walked a mile each day. I have no trouble drinking 64 plus ounces of Fluid and have managed 50 or so grams of Protein in liquid form daily. I am surprised how good I feel so far. I wish the same for everyone!!

I just had surgery on Tuesday and the most ugly for me about the whole thing was I got the dry heaves the 2nd night so bad I thought I was going to rip my stomach out. They made me stay an extra day because of it. I was very thankful for the nurse that was on that night, he did everything he could to help me.

It's been said before but worth repeating: Never trust a fart!

DITTO! I had to be readmitted 5 days post op for nausea/ vomiting' date=' my ugly:

*7 pokes for an IV (dehydrated veins are difficult to find) now my arms (between IVs, blood draws, and heparin shots) make me look like a battered woman... My boyfriend actually get dirty looks when we are out in public...

*in ED, while on stretcher I passed some gas. Oh wait, I mean I sharted. Big time. BIG TIME. It was nasty and incredibly embarrassing, and worst of all I had to throw away my favorite sweatpants :(

*cant tolerate any medications orally (or else I throw up)... So now I'm home giving myself tylenol and compazine suppositories... Oh joy!

I'm sure there will many more uglies before my journey reaches goal, as I am still so new to my sleeve. But those are some pretty bad ones there... Winner maybe?

I had surgery a week ago today. No problems no uglies some pain no drains. But I must say explaining what a shart was to my husband was funny. I went in at 6:15 am Monday and left a round 11 Tuesday. My dear hubbie has been great as my nurse.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
