  2. I work in a small office and the whole thing played out very oddly but in the end all was well. I could not imagine not telling them as time off for surgery and then a large weight loss would cause great concern. Just as I was sure when surgery would be a girl in the office was fired (in the end I am so very thankful for that because she would have been problematic) Because we were short staffed I was asked directly if I expected to need any time off ...and so..out it came! My boss could not have been more supportive.

  7. I have only tried the pumpkin spice and while I would not call it chalky, it is very very sweet.
  8. I am approaching the pre-op diet exactly the same way. I do not want my body to be shocked. I have been cutting calories down and getting very friendly with shakes. It seems that I am also getting more comfortable with feeling a little hungry. Good luck.

  10. Enjoy! 5 months sounds like plenty of time post op I am planning a cruise 12 weeks post op. Of course cruises are all about the food so my struggles may be different. We are going with old friends and so, I choose to make it all about the people!

  19. Hi All! Stats eh? My name is Bonnie Dr. Laycock at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital (DHMC) Surgery date is 11/13 Weight High - 241, Current 225, Projected 150 (ish) (or wherever my body happily and healthily lands) Ins. MVP, time waited for approval 5 days Ins. requirements, 6 monthly, supervised weight loss visits with PCP and 5% weight loss. Pre-op diet, 2 weeks, semi liquid 800 - 1,000 calories a day. I can't wrap my mind around those who have long term Optifast specific pre op diets. Good luck everyone, it will be fun watching you all succeed!!
  20. Surgery is scheduled for Nov 13th! This past weekend I had one of those social days...birthday for the grandson and grand opening at..of all things..a hot new restaurant where my son is chef de cuisine. Ohhh baby! I enjoyed the family and the company and basically ate half of what I normally would and skipped the cake. I was simply "aware" and it was the most fabulous day!
  21. They send a small light weight package and instructions for you to put the monitors around your middle..and breathing mointors as well as an oxygen minor for your finger. They also call you to discuss before you use it and have a check for you to see if it was effective before you sent it back. You sleep and thats it. It is easily packaged back in the box and returned. One thing ...and this is after you get a cpap...is that it is monitored by a cell modem and they would call me every week with stats....you used it this many hours..this average....how can we help you? There is also a small data card in the machine that records all use, and how effective it is. Yyou can pop it out and bring it to the dr. with you.

  23. This reminds me that I need to get working on my "healing" playlist.... Three Little Birds...some gentle Marley, Alison Kraus....songs that make me smile.
  24. I did the home study with Sleep Solutions. They have a good system and it wasn't complicated. Someone delivered my machine and gave me a lesson. I did need to go to my Dr. and have him fuss with the settings.. ...all in all, it was fine.
