Going to Mexico, letter for grandparents to care for children

Hi everyone. I leave for Tijuana, Mexico on March 6th. My parents are watching my kids and thought maybe I need to type up a letter for any dental or medical emergency. My question is, do you think I need to get it notarized? Thanks for any help.

    I would. Documents signed in the presence of a Notary will be honored by more facilities. Although no guarantees.
