Is the procedure they do for strictures an option?

I think stricture procedure is just pertaining to the upper part . So the food can go down easier.

I wish a sleeve could be stretched. My stomach was so badly damaged by the complications that my restriction is significant. So much so that I am now facing needing to supplement my calorie basis for life due to the restriction. If drinking a few soda's could fix that you betcha I would be doing so. That just isn't the case.

The legend is soda or beer, perhaps you need to switch carbonated beverages. This buds for you iggy!

LOL I'm already on carbonation...but i save that for champagne heh heh

No the stricture thing isn't helpful here. Basically if you think of how our stomach is left the size of a sharpee marker (ish) my suture line ended up half rotted out, and I have a small (short) stomach anyhoo, so I lost even more. What is left isn't stretchable...it's just very small. Ironic...I"ll end up on the cheeto's and m&m's diet to gain weight in the end (eyes rolling).

I get so confused! Every program says different things and sometimes it's hard to keep up. My surgeon did tell me that my sleeve could be "stretched" and that carbonation is a big culprit in stretching a sleeve. He also did warn me about the slider foods but he also included mashed potatoes as a slider as well. His program has a tremendous success rate so I've been trying to follow his program rules.

It's true and frustrating ! But just go by what your own doc suggests I guess . You would think they would be all on the same page !!!

Mashed potatoes are a huge slider and one of the worst things you can eat if you're trying to lose weight.

I would agree that all docs give slightly different advice but keep in mind that doctors (and nutritionists who work with patients for that matter) can't take the time to get to know each patient thoroughly and tailor their advice accordingly. They have to Water it down to the lowest common denominator....meaning for their dumbest patient. So they give advice that will help the biggest majority of patients....or just save the really stupid ones from making a huge mistake. When in doubt I'd follow your docs advice but some intelligent research to learn more details will only help you.

And by research I don't mean reading VST. This is a support group, not a medical research think tank (no offense to anyone).

Sometimes...yes! You just have to figure out how to seperate the good info from the "internet knowledge." If you figure it out, let me know.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
