Band Repair -Xpost

Recommended Posts

Hiya Leatha,

I had the same problem... was muscle spasms in my case and the Dr. gave me a script for a muscle relaxant when I told him about it at my 1st post-op appointment. The pain medication really didn't help with that particular type of pain in my case, but the Flexeril worked wonders! I still have the the spasms in the rib cage area now and then but they have decreased day by day. I also slept on the couch for the first week post-op ... still do once in awhile. I hope that today is a better day for you and maybe you could ask your M.D. about trying a muscle relaxant??? I know I learned VERY quickly how to use other muscles to get up from the couch or bed!

Get better soon!

Thanks SissyFaye! I reckon I'm doing as well as can be expected. Right now, I still have alot of pain in my largest incision. It's still a challenge to get on and off the bed/couch when trying to lay down, but it is getting better.

I hope today is a better day. Yesterday was a sort of down day. I was sleepy and uncomfortable wherever I was. Sitting too long or laying too long anywhere wasn't working and I was so sore walking wasn't pleasant either. lol, although, we all know walking is supposed to be the key.

Seems to me I felt better than this the first time around. :sick

One good thing - the scale says I've lost 3 lbs, so I guess that's what it's all about. :)

Good luck to you also!

Leatha

Leatha, I'm sure this dr. had to do a lot of "digging around" that you didn't have done the first time. Do you have a recliner? That was a lifesaver for me. You won't have to pull up from a completely flat position. When do you go back to your surgeon? Please take care and give everything time to heal so you don't have to do this again. Best of luck to you!

I guess this is a sick way of looking at it, and I truly don't mean it wrong, but at least you are only sore and you still have the ability to have that band. That is so great. I am happy to hear that you have lost 3 lbs. Sometimes that is the motivation that keeps us going. This soreness will pass, I know it is hard right now though. I am going for my endoscopy in the morning and I am asking for you all to say a small prayer that I get to keep my band. I am so worried they are going to tell me that it is eroding and that is why I am having the pain. But if it is, it just is and I won't be able to do anything about it. I hope you all don't expect me to be a rock like Donali was.... I admire her.... but I am afraid I will just fall apart. So I am praying for an ulcer or something else to be wrong. I will tell you all as soon as I know something.

Leatha, damn, sorry I wasn't here sooner. My work computer is down, but to make up for it, I'm home now, sitting naked at my computer, looking at the clock, knowing I'm very late, but still posting my wishes anyway!

Hey, I lost quite a bit of weight before having my first fill. The band alone, plus the surgery swelling and all will give you enough restriction to get back on track immediately... because I said so!

Far out, you're all fixed! But the black eye? My doctor would say it could have been a table injury. I saw my primary doctor after my band placement and she said people get flopped around like a dead fish in surgery, and many people end up with "table injuries." Maybe they dropped a tank on your head. I like the story of the stabbings & black eye... there's no changing the situation, so may as well have fun with it!

HAHAHA, thanks for the visual, Lisa.. :)

I'm sure my black eye was a 'table injury'. makes you wonder what they do AFTER they've strapped you down and put you to sleep? I recall vividly being strapped down. and they werent' doing surgery on my backside.. ???

I hope you made it to work on time.

thanks!

Leatha

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
