Most used kitchen appliance

Recommended Posts

So I'm 2 weeks post op and starting to think long term as far as cooking goes. Anybody have a favorite kitchen appliance that helps them make super yummy healthy dishes? I was looking into getting a food processor and a bullet. What are your favorites?

I love my Ninja with the travel cups. I also am starting to think I will need a toaster oven soon. My meals I make are very small, so it makes sense to use one instead of firing up the big oven.

I am about to order a Nu Wave oven... Have read great reviews on it. I am literally always on the go and you can take something from the freezer, put it on their, and in less than half the time of using the oven it is cooked.

I love my Vitamix. I add unflavored Protein Powder to all the Soups and smoothies that I make. I've had one for several years, just never used it much. Now it sits on my counter and I use it several times a week. Tonight is Vitamix tortilla Soup night. Yummm.

I could not be without my steamer. I often have food leftover or will cook enough for another day and the steamer keeps my food, especially meats, from being dried out when I reheat it. I would recommend one to anyone. I use it whenever I warm something in the microwave. This one is small/mini but it's just big enough for me. I have a larger one as well but I always reach for this one because of the size.

For the first month or so, my Ninja was my best friend. Now that I'm a little further out, my kitchen scale is something I use every day. Also some good 4oz (or so) freezer to microwave containers. Makes portioning out food very easy. When I cook, usually on the weekends I wrap everything for me in single serve portions. Some I freeze some just refrigerate for immediate use. Makes eating during the week much easier.

Good luck!

I love my George Foreman grill.

My 5 main appliances:

George Foreman grill

2 food processors - (1) full size, (1) 2 cup - both from Wal-Mart

Cast Iron Dutch Oven - Does double duty as a skillet too, I usually saute my shredded chicken in it with taco sauce.

shaker bottle from Wal-Mart - good for shakes and for mixing Taco mix with Water.< /p>

My vitamix was just delivered today, It's going to get a workout this weekend. :)

The microwave is the most important thing in my kitchen. The food processor and blender when I was in the liquid and puree stage.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
