January Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

It has been awhile since I have been here. I was banded January 30th, 2007. Just got my first fill Thursday the 15th of March...1cc in my 4cc band. I don't feel anything yet, but I need to give it time. Doc said if I feel no difference or can still eat the same amount to call for another fill in 2 weeks. I have only lost 15 lbs since surgery...ugh. But I guess it is better than nothing , right?

AriesGirl :kiss2:

I just had my first fill too, on the 22nd (under fluro). Same thing, though...1cc in a 4 cc band. Since the fill I have lost 2 lbs, but I am not sure if I feel restriction, probably because I am not sure what restriction really feels like. I have never really had much since being banded. The doctor told me the same thing about calling him if I don't feel anything. Too bad I had to wait over three weeks for the appointment from the day I called to schedule.

My doctor was very impressed with my progress:

33 lbs in 11 weeks (all post op)

2 jean sizes

Hips: Lost 5 inches

Waist: Lost 5 inches

Bust: Lost 3 inches

I guess I really can't complain much. I just hate having to relearn all my body responses and feelings.

Hi angyl, I also had my first fill on 3/22 and I also have a 4 cc band. My doctor only put .75 cc's of saline in my band. I am not sure if Ihave enough restriction. I haven't weighed myself since I went to the doctor on 3/22. I was down 31.5lbs since the start of my pre-op diet on 1/16. I was banded on 1/30/07. You are doing GREAT!:clap2: Talk to you soon. Gigi:)

Hello....out there in bandland...

How's everyone doing? You've been awfully quiet lately. I use to come on the thread and have pages worth of catching up to do.

Do any of you feel that you have good restriction...even if it isn't at the "sweet spot"? Mine, for whatever crazy reason, is starting to feel like it's tightening up in the morning. Strange. I'm having a harder time with Breakfast all of a sudden. It could be the TOM...but then again, I don't know.

Joe,

That is sooo GREAT! Keep up the good work. I love reading happy posts as I am not yet banded and each day it seems my jeans are getting tighter... they really are and I don't think I am eating more! Oh well that is another story. I am counting down the days and need the inspiration! I bet you needed a whole new wardrobe. Yippee

I thought that I had restriction. I am not sure sure now. Maybe I was just swollen after the fill.

I went for my 6 month dental cleaning today and told my dentist all about the lap-band surgery. As an additional incentive to lose the weight, she offered me free teeth whitening (about a $700 value) if I reach my goal weight. Wasn't that incredibly generous and sweet of her? I'm such a pessimist, and when someone does something like it always takes me by surprise (in a good way).

On another note, I had my first "stuck" episode Sunday night. And of course it had to be in a restaurant. I was eating roast beef, and I guess it was a little too dry and I probably didn't chew well enough. OMG!!!! Lesson learned. Has anyone else experienced nausea and diarrhea with the golfball syndrome? As soon as I got that sensation in my chest, I had to go to the bathroom immediately. It's like it triggered something in my entire digestive tract, and everything was expelled from my body. After the beef finally became unstuck, the nausea kicked in and I had a couple of dry heaves. Anyone else have those symptoms?

I'm too afraid to eat to have a stuck feeling!!!! It's really strange to "begin" this process all over again each month after the fills. Had a fill yesterday...first fill was 1.25 cc, yesterdays was 1cc for a total of 2.25 in a 4 cc band. Have only eaten 330 calories today because I'm afraid to eat. Can't tell if the feeling I'm feeling is hunger or fullness.....I'm so messed up! Does anyone else feel like this? I know that in the next couple of days things should settle down and I'll not be so afraid but for now its scary.

Joe....unbeleivable! 65 pounds in 2 months is AWESOME!!! Do you have any secrets for the rest of us? I'm not complaining about my weight loss, have lost 38 pounds since January 4 (surgery was Jan. 18th) but love to hear how other people are losing more!

Hi BGB!!! It's been a while!!! Glad to see you back!! I missed you!

As long as you feel comfortable at where you are at and you are loosing..I would stsy where you are, but ultimately it comes down to how you feel about it. My MD and I talked about it and I had NO restrcition whatsoever with the 1 cc...That's why we did the .5... I didn't think I would have as much restrcition as I have though (it's really TIGHT:faint: )...It's weird how much of a difference .5 cc's makes...

Hey Bandida!!!! I do feel good where I am. I definitely eat less. I have no discomfort but just feel really full after I eat a coffee cup plate worth. I think I have been pushing it slightly and I think that I have been overeating sometimes. I do this when I am overly hungry. The only thing I notice is that I can't take a deep breath, have pressure and just feel too full. I think I need to just start serving myself 1 cup portions and eat it slow. I did that today and it was enough to make me feel full.

I started going to the gym again!!!!!!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I have gone to the gym 3 times and did the treadmill for 1 hour. I am really loving it!!! I weigh in tomorrow.

I think if I stop losing I may ask for a slight fill, but then I have never pb'd or slimed and don't want to. Maybe I shouldn't push things. I have a ride to go next week.

Maybe I should leave things alone. :faint:

Bandida- glad to hear that you are feeling and doing better today. I go for my first fill tomorrow at 9:45am. I am not sure how many cc's my doctor will instill in my 4cc band. I guess that I will find out tomorrow. Gigi

BabyGotBack- glad to see that you're back! I was wondering where you were-nice to have you back. I am sure the wedding was wonderful. I hope you had a wonderful time. Gigi

Thanks!!! I miss you guys too! I have not been able to get on as much lately. I had so much housework and stuff to catch up on since I was so distracted with the wedding. My life is finally settling down.

I am getting a routine going!!!

How are you doing?

Hey!!! Yeah, I haven't been on trying to catch up with things. I looks like a lot of people have been busy too!

I do eat less and just have a coffee with soymilk for breakfast. I can eat, but not much in the mornings. Before and durning my period I was tighter. I eat about 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food at a time.

Hi BGB! Yeah.. I would definitely stay where you are...I just had my second fill last week and it's made a huge difference..I've had 3 PBing episodes (NOT FUN) The last one I thought I was gonna pass out in the bathroom!! It was at the school that i work at and I could just see it...The nurse trying to revive me..lol...I can laugh at it now, but at that moment I was horrified and scared sh..less!!! :faint: If you feel comfortable where you are and you are losing...I'd wait..(just my opinion..):) Good Luck!!! :kiss2:

That's exacatly how I am and I go for my first fill today! I'm scared to eat, because I don't want the pain in my back on the left side or the pains in my chest. So I may eat about 500 calories a day!

Be blessed!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
