I just paid for the surgery and now I am having a freak out moment! Wondering if I am doing the right thing!! Ahhh! Hope your Monday has started off well. :)

Haha.....been there done that! Once I clicked the 'submit' button on the bpay, I thought 'no going back now'!

Best $5000ish you will ever spend :)

Yes my fiancé didn't grasp why I was having a freak out! It's done now! Confirmed my follow up appt isn't in mandurah but back at the hospital so that's good! They say ill only be in hospital 2 nights so that will be good!Yes 5k commitment! I think that's the scary part, you don't want to fail like every other diet!! All upwards from here!!

Hi Krystal

I took knitting, a book, some magazines and my iPad. I didn't use ant of the cause I was too tired, sick and couldn't focus on anything!

I watched tellie, slept, walked and talked to the other lady in my room.

I was in hospital for a total of three days.

One thing I wish I had taken was some PJs that I could wear with the IV. Those hospital gowns just didn't do it for me. However, finding pjs that open at the shoulder isn't exactly easy. Plus, if you get a nurse to help with the dressing part, they can disconnect your IV so you can put your own clothes on. My problem was, the nursing care wasn't that crash hot, and asking them to do anything took some time, because they were so busy. It was easier to just wear the hospital gown :/

Oh that sucks! I was going to go buy some warm ones as I am not used to the cold!!

How did you go wearing pants after?

Yep I was planning on taking books and the iPad, better to have them I guess! It will be nice to rest up even though I'll probably be super sore!

Did you need pain meds when you went home? I had a big bowl of Pasta last night! Last one!

I am finding it hard to think what we might do after this, so much of what we do up here is bbq, drinks, and very social so it's going to be such an adjustment!

How are you going this week? Good I hope :)

I wore Tracky dax for a week, and the put my jeans on to find they weren't tight at all!

Pain medication consisted of soluble panadol for a couple of days, but that was it. I needed maxalon to stop the nausea for a couple of days as well.

I'm going well this week. Still on puréed as I find 'normal' food still gets a bit stuck...biput it's only been 4 weeks.

The scales have come to a screaming halt. Most frustrating. It's normally around now I give up on a diet and have a pig out....but I can't! Fingers crossed they start moving soon.

What date is your op?

I have hardly any warm clothes but shouldn't have to go outside much in the first week. I mainly have jeans up here but more shorts etc as it's usually so warm!

I have made some pumpkin Soup and I also made a coconut curry chicken so I puréed some of that. I got the dietician info today with the Protein powder so ill order some of that.

Operation is this coming Monday, fly to Perth Sunday! Nervous about being on my own! I have a skype consult tomorrow for the anesthetist - thank goodness for technology!

I'm sure your stall will be short lived! How much have you lost now, what was your surgery weight!

How have you been going? I'm doing ok, had a bit of pain yesterday but think I overdid it with being out. Eating soups and liquids is all going well! Not feeling hungry but get jealous of some peoples food just cos!

Yep, can relate! I want that piece of pizza, but I'm buggered if it will fit in!

Just take things easy and your recovery will continue to go well.

I'm doing well.. I have lost 10kgs not to bad in 5 weeks, considering the stupid stall I had.

It gets easier, and I'm learning what, when and how much to eat. food is becoming not so much of a focus anymore.

I put on a jacket this morning as I am desperate for something warm to wear to the footy. All my jackets were way too small.

I was gobsmacked when it actually fit! No tightness in the arms, or across the back, and I could even do up the buttons. It's one of those 'NSV's' that I read about all the time, and it feels good!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
