OMG did I really used to eat that much?

Recommended Posts

Ok ok I had to post this to see if anyone else does the same thing!!

Went out for lunch with the team at work today. We went to a pizza place that had a $10 8inch pizza deal...the 12inch pizzas were like up to $15 and the large around $22... Me with my new sleeve assumed everyone would go with the $10 deal and I ordered an entree for myself of chorizo as a treat lol

Well EVERYONE ordered the large size pizza - and I'm talking its MASSIVE like bigger than a Pizza Hut pizza and I thought how I would've done the same once and now I'd get through maybe one slice!!! It is soooo strange to watch ppl eat so much food and sitting there waiting for them all to finish after I'd eaten my tiny bit of Protein and feeling so full lol it was so strange...

Anyway I can't help but think that everyone eats way too much lol like I never thought that a person could survive on what I eat now but I realise that you can!! I love my sleeve but I'm forgetting what it's like to eat so much and I just look at everyone wondering why aren't they sick lol

I just got sleeved a week ago.. I'm not planing on sharing the news with the whole world, but my skinny-over eating friends will notice something is up when I start doing the same.. I think it's gonna be pretty obvious and I might as well just tell everyone I know :/

We had a potluck dinner at work yesterday and I am so with you on this. I actually brought my own food as I didn't know if there was anything that I could eat there. Anyway people brought so much food and ate so much. It is like big forkfuls of food in their mouths and they shovel it in. I guess years ago I was like that too, I just don't remember. Do they even taste the food? Aren't we lucky to be in the position that we are in; eating smaller quantities, tasting our food, stopping when we are full, isn't life wonderful?

I noticed that over the Christmas holidays. It is hard not to say something. But I am so much more aware of the mindless eating that people do as well, that I used to do! It is good to realize that it isnt good for you. Maybe my new habits will wear off on those around me....doubt it but I can hope!

We are all stomach deprived. I can imagine how a vegetarian feels when sitting around eating a meal with carnivores. euuuuu!!! I know that I am one of those people who could consume massive amounts of food and I am so thankful that I am now unable to do that to myself. That being said, I can't hold the non-stomach deprived population to my new standards of eating because they aren't blessed with my body modification. It's like being a member of a secret society ;-)

We used to have pizza every Sunday night, it was our weekly family event. After getting my sleeve and starting to account for all of the calories I was putting into my body I went through what I would have eaten on one of our typical Sunday pizza nights. I would have 1/2 of a family sized stuffed crust 5 meat pizza, bread sticks, a bigggg bowl of ice cream and of course a soda or two. That one meal alone I was eating nearly 8000 calories! It makes me sad to know now what I was doing to myself then.

Omg I know how this feels, I was sleeved jan 29 so I am on soft foods now and I made my fiance a valenti es day dinner of a beautiful tossed salad with fresh veggies and a grilled steak (8oz) and I gave him a good sized portion of the salad he ate it said oh that was good ( 10 min of eating time) then proceeded to eat a huge bowl of chips! Im like omg that was me a month ago. I get sick sometimes watching him eat he chews like 3 times then shovels in more. Glad I am not alone.

Yep we used to have pizza night too and I'd eat just like u!! Feels like a different person was doing that now!

I too can't and won't say anything, I do remember eating so much but now it is absolutely impossible for me, but after surviving on so little I now understand why so many ppl (including me) struggle with their weight!

The main issue I have is that even ppl who know gasp at how little I eat, they're always trying to feed me lol and secretly I'm sitting there wondering how on earth they eat so much!!

lol weirdest new experience in life ever!

I feel ya. I was sleeved 2/12 so I'm lucky if I can eat 1/8 cup of puréed food. Ive been cooking for my boyfriend and I sit there with my tiny bowl and watch him shovel it in. He's doesn't have a weight problem though... Lucky man. I wonder though... Does he even breathe between bites?

I admit I've taken his plate away a few times so he would actually chew and swallow his food before he took another bite. What else can you expect from a 22 year old man? Lol

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
