Started 'Couch to 5k today' Anyone keen?

Recommended Posts

W2D2 done! I ran at 8 kph (5 mph) and walked at 5 kph (3 mph). The first interval of the running was kind of hard' date=' but it got easier after that. The most annoying thing is having to adjust the treadmill. I wish I could just program in the top and bottom speeds and toggle it.

I'd like to work my way up to 10 kph running by the end so I could actually do the 5k in half an hour.[/quote']

Awesome job!

Starting C210K and decided I would increase my speed a tiny bit each day. Also on Mondays I think I will still do a longer run so I don't lose my endurance.

So I didn't really get started good on the app and quit it about 50 pounds ago. Tried W1D1 again last night on an outside track (hills/turns) and actually RAN instead of jogged the run sections and lasted 24 of the 30 minutes. Hopefully next time I can make it through all!!

Oh I love running in the rain. It's the only time right now that it's not sweltering hot.

Learned my lesson this weekend... Running every day is a good way to get injured. Finished W5D3 on Sunday and on the walk home my knee started hurting so bad I had to keep stopping and let it ease up before walking for a little longer. I think I just overdid it. I've not been running for the exercise lately, I'm running to take my mind off of a personal issue I'm trying to deal with. In the past, running has always been the way I deal with stress. Throwing my knee out through my back out a whack as well. I've also been working 14+ hour days the last week which has sent the nerves in my arms and wrist into a tizzy. I'm a wreck!

Thanks to Fiddleman my back is feeling better. I order one of those bed of nails from Amazon and its amazing how much relief they provide.

My knee seems to be easing up, so I'll probably get back running tomorrow.

Love my fitbit! Here are my stats for the last week:

Onto 10K & Speed. Week 1 day 2 done!

Boy it's pretty quiet here. Looking forward to the weekend. First weekend home in 2 months. We're taking the 3 yr old grandson and his parents to the zoo. Should be a fun day with family and lots of walking. I swear that little guy can out walk grandma! The last time we went to the zoo he walked the whole thing and according to my pedometer it was 5 miles.

Happy weekend everyone.

W1D1 completed yesterday during 2:00PM Texas Heat in a hoodie :) I figure if I can make it in that then it should be pretty easy in a tshirt in the afternoon :) Going to try doing it again tonight after the trainer kicks my arse. Going for my first training session tonight too. Trying to get in shape for Air Force fit test!

Ran a 10K race this morning in San Antonio. My fastest time ever. It was nice running a new trail, and there were some amazing runners there. Had fun and finished early enough to still have post run waffle.

That is superb BTB. You continue to set a gold standard example for the level of fitness success one can achieve as a post op VSG. Your dedication to being the best you can be has been most admirable. Thanks for being a beacon of hope for so many. What will be your next race you will train for?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
