If you have time' date=' and the transportation to, be sure to visit Multnomah Falls near Portland. It is beautiful. And if you have even more time, visit Canon Beach and Seaside on the coast (about an hour drive west). An interesting trivia fact is the movie Goonies where the Pirate ship sailed out of the rocks was filmed there. Oh yeah, I am a child of the 80s!

We spent 4 days in Canon Beach last year. All I can say is....I was definitely checking the want ads and real estate section. I'd love to retire there.

Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I've been doing week 1 of C25K again, but I've been sprinting the run intervals. Holy jeezuz it's hard. Feels good though to expand my lungs again.

Hey BTB - that is a pretty clever ( correction: really clever) approach to reusing the structure of c25k as a running vet who can already run 5 k, 10 k and 1/2.

How was the c25k today Laura? Besides being almost impossible. Is it getting easier? Is breathing improving? Less sore?

There's no reason you should be sore Laura. The people who designed C25K knew what they were doing.

Plus, even when it comes to weight lifting, studies have shown that DOMS has nothing to do with muscle adaptation or Protein synthesis. In other words, you never need to be sore to improve. Being sore just means you did too much, or used some muscles way more than they are used to being used.

Really?!?!

I am going to Glenwood Springs with the boy friend. My Birthday is Saturday and we wanted to do something adventurous now that I am not a big giant slug!!

I do plan to take it easy that week. I can feel a burnout phase coming on so going to just relax and not be so neurotic!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
