FEBRUARY SLEEVERS 2013....how you doing after you've been Sleeved

Recommended Posts

Yes mine was to the right of my belly button too. It went up and down like it was a muscle. I just did nothing for 2 days and it went away. Are you doing to much?

I went back to work six days after surgery. I try to walk everyday but it's tough with no energy! I'm finally starting to feel like myself again. I have my first follow up appointment tomorrow. Hoping to move to food! Then I will feel so much better! I'm down 25# so I really can't complain.

Sorry to hear you are feeling discouraged. Are you taking all of your Vitamins and walking regularly?

Okay I had surgery monday and this is my First day back at home. I cant tell if Im hungry or full :( I ate Breakfast at the hospital (couple spoon fulls of grits, and sips of apple juice) and i was fine. then around 5pm i realized i havent eaten and I didnt feel as if i was hungry but i know i should eat. so i mixed some Protein Powder with yogurt and started with that. But when im eating i never gett the sesation of full ness. and im scared im going to eat too much or something so i just stop when i start getting burpy. Ive only had half of the thing of yogurt too.. is this normal? when does the hungry/full sensations come back?

To all those not feeling their best, I pray you are able to physically and mentally overcome any obstacle that stands in the way of your weight loss journey!

I am also 15 days out and I too was getting concerned, no weight loss in 3 days. My 1st post-op appointment was today. They said I could move to Stage 3 foods (puréed/sorted chopped). And it is also time to increase my calories to 1000 in the next 2 weeks, following the rules regarding protein intake. My body is beginning to go in starvation mode, and I need to eat more to lose more and to kick start my metabolism. It did make sense not only did my weight loss stop but my energy went out the window.

I couldn't wait to get home and EAT. On the menu kalarmati olive humus and Clam dip, with sweet red pepper dippers. One tablespoon each and 6 pepper dippers latter and I was done. Oh sweet disappointment. And it all stayed with me.

Good luck

Wow! That's freakin awesome! I can't seem to get in more than three small spoonfuls of anything without feeling stuffed and burpy. Im trying to figure out how we get to 1000 calories eating quality food? !

Well im sure over time we will get there.

I am sleeved!! Dr.was an hour late for my surgery, but I am finally sleeved and so far I feel pretty good. Went into surgery a few minutes after 11am and was un my room at about 3pm. I was in alot of pain in the recovery room when I first woke up but after 4 ir 5 shots of dilaudid un my IV it was completely tolerable. I've done 5 laps around the floor walking thus far. Haven't experienced much gas pain as if yet, my body is just aching a little bit. Can't believe I actually went through with it! I was so worried and having serious second thoughts this morning! Feeling=Relieved!!!

Ok. So I am a little scared. I can drink whatever I want want with no or very little discomfort. Soups are easy and don't bother me. I am a week out and yesterday cheated with my liquids by having some crackers. I am worried that I am doing to well and something is wrong. Maybe it is just nothing but I listen to everyone else and the issues and think that I might be missing something. I get a little heartburn but I can't complain one bit. I see my doc tomorrow for a follow up. I am supposed to be on liquids for 2 weeks then purée for 2 weeks and then soft for 2 weeks. I am scared that since nothing is bothering me that I am going to lose control move too fast and hurt something. Sorry for rambling. Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue.

ME TOO!!! I actually get worried cuz I can't even tell I had surgery. Once or twice I had a weird pain but that's it. I feel bad saying it cuz the people next to me at the surgery center cried out all night. I have not gone off my scheduled diet but I don't feel hungry and I don't feel full, it's just so new! I feel so lucky that I haven't had pain or complications as of yet. Hope it continue this way!

I was sleeved on Monday. I'm still in the hospital. I'm in so much pain I can't even imagine going home without an iv. Luckily no vomiting I'm able to sip Water and juice. My belly is so tender. I'm not able to pass gas. They won't let me take gas x strips. It hurts to move. But I'm going to try to walk as much as I can tomorrow.

It what better I promise. Hang in there.

My surgery is April 1. I attended my support group meeting last night and we discussed swelling after surgery. Several people had trouble swallowing their own saliva and Water. Has anyone else had this trouble?

Congrats on your surgery date. Hope all goes well. To answer your question I didn't have an issue swallowing my own saliva. Im a little over a week out and I can tell the difference in the amount of Water I'm able to consume. I was taking tiny tiny sip of water the first few days, but now I can actually drink maybe an oz at a time

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
