Had surgery thursday and all went well, had trouble sleeping a couple of nights. Pain was managable and I only stayed one night. I am on Clear Liquids until monday and then I can start phase two with shakes. Looking forward to eating a plain yogurt :) post op I was 318 and in 4 days I have lost 7 lbs. That helps me stay motivated. I have a 2 year old boy, and the hardest thing is not being able to carry him, but in due time he'll have a healither mommy

Congrats! I am waiting to see if I will join you as a Feb Sleever or a March, much will have to do with my work schedule and kids spring breaks! I was wondering about stage two and about how much time I'm taking off of work. Right now I am hoping to have it mid-week or end of week and take off a few days, but not many. I want to save as many days as possible. I, too, will only be there 23 hours. Love plain yogurt!

Thats awesome! I took 7 days off work. Going back mon the 18th. good thing is I have desk job that doesnt require any heavy lifting or strain :) I am 4 days out and I feel pretty good, so Im sure by the time I go back I can handle it. a bit of advise the most painful part after surgery was gases, nurse recommended gas x disolvable strips, worked great. much better now.

Don't push it. I thought I would be off only a week but it takes time to heal and gain back strength and energy to face the day. If you lift anything more then 10 lbs at work then it's best to take a couple weeks off. Remember you just will have had a major surgery. Your health is more important. I feel 6 days post op that I still want to rest after a half hour of activity. Good luck and God bless!! You will do great!

Thank God for Gas X strips too! If I feel bloated or just full of air behind my sternum it helps within minutes. Take them along with you wherever you go! I like the mint ones the best

Romans

I had my surgery a day before you. I have 2 kids too. 5 years and 18 months and its so difficult not being able to carry them or push them away when they come closer. How much time has your doc asked you not to lift or not get kicked by your kids?

He said no lifiting for six weeks...kicking not so sure. I put pillows all over my stomach just in case my son decides he wants to run into me. We keep telling him that mommy hurt and he has to be gently. that calms him down and he stays away. He understands gentle :) Still hard though cause you want to give them a big hug and not be afraid he'll hit you in stomach

I only had pain for 24 hours after surgery, but I took 3 weeks off to adjust to my new life and give my body time to heal naturally. I just didn't want to rush back, but I had both vacation time and short term disability that kicked in, so I made more money being home than being at work..so..that was a nice treat, too..lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
