United health care chiceplus 5yr obesity history

Ok here is my story (short), ive been over 200lbs for like 7-8yrs and that makes my bmi between 32-39 and just found out i gotta have a 5yr history of being obese. What i didnt know is that its probably a bmi of 40+ or if under then i would need comorbidities. Well it wasnt 40+ and no comorbidities....im so upset because i really had my hopes up for this. I am so ready to finally get help losing this weight and feeling and looking better! Then this! Has anyone been denied by uhc because of the same issue? Can anything be done at all to help my chances???? Please help!

So do i just call 800 number and ask for a nurse line or what should i say??? Lol

I have UHC choice plus. When I started looking into surgery I had them email the requirements so I had it down on paper. Remember like people have said it all depends on what your employer choose they are going to pay for. I know UHC has many different plans. My dr is submitting mine to insurance this week. So I hope I hear something soon. I'm tired of waiting!

Thats whats weird is i gave uhc all my in fo they needed to look up my plan and so did the surgeons office...evetything off my card, yet we both got a different answer. Im submitting the 5yr obesity history but if it is actually needed i probably will get denied because i had a bmi of 32-39 with no comorbidities in those 5yrs. Im gonna see if my primary will write a letter to uhc to go with my paper work explaining family health history of cancer, heart attacks, strokes and high blood pressure. I have high cholesterol and asthma but not medicated for any of it.
