I've lost 70 pounds and 3 dress sizes in 6weeks and my own grandma let me know how disappointed she is that i'm not skinny yet. Yeah, people suck. But you've done an awesome thing for yourself and others. Be proud, and rock that sleeve!

I met with a friend today who told me that somebody had commented on my weight loss. They said I must not be doing something right because I've only lost 65lbs since surgery on October 22. Thankfully she is a good friend who has had bypass and knows how the journey goes. So she stood up for me and said' date='" Actually, I think she's ahead of schedule." I wasn't mad about the comment, but intrigued on what would make somebody say something like that when they really don't have a clue. This isn't a rant but more of sharing. Just think it's funny how people are still so judgemental even after a person has lost so much.[/quote']

My sister thought that after I had surgery I would be significantly smaller. She thought they were taken the fat from over my abdomen out unsteady of cutting the actual organ stomach.

You had your surgery one month after I had mine and you've lost more than I have. (OP)

First, congratulations on the weight you have lost! That is quite an accomplishment. Second, and just as important is that I LOVE your attitude. Some people just don't have any idea, and also no speed bumps from their brain to their mouth. I admire that you have the attitude that you do - that will serve you well in all aspects of life. Keep up the great work!! You go girl.

My fourteen year old daughter thought the same thing!!!

this is why I kept it to myself, people have crazy expectations once they know you have done something like this.

I met with a liver specialist recently. He knew I had had the sleeve. So I was surprised by his comment that my 70 pound weight loss "wasn't good enough." He felt I should have lost more by now. I was sleeved 7 weeks ago.

Really afraid at what people will say at work so choosing to not tell anyone there. They are all so negative about everything. Sad really to think that what they say can affect me but trying to work through that. And it is usually always the women, and I know it is jealousy plain and simple! If they knew my weight loss was from an operation I can't even imagine what it would be like, has been bad enough when I was loosing weight on my own. Just saying!!!:)

Im with you! This is my thing to focus on for the next several months. I do not want to have to deal with any of the judgemental people i work with while i finally ake care of me! Past experience proves them to be way too judgemental, nosey and gossipy and i just dont need that right now.

People are just plain rude and jealous. I have lost around 90 lbs and someone posted a picture of me on FB. I had someone (not a close friend) send me a private message that said "I hope you don't take this the wrong way but you either need to lighten your hair or darken your eyebrows..just a pet peeve of mine". Really...not congratulations on your weight loss or I bet you feel so much better after losing that weight...my hair is the wrong color. Give me a break! I didn't respond right away...had to wait so I wouldn't make a rude comment back. I just said...well if my hair is the wrong color...tell God because it is the color he gave me...lol! I know my eyebrows are thin but not really sure what I can do about them...maybe I should have some tatooed on!! She sent me the phone number of someone who could tatoo them on! Go figure!

Let the Haters Hate! They are my motivaters I know I'm doing things right because they take notice and comment good or bad they notice! Any weight loss is an accomplishment and 65 lbs lost is no small achievement don't let anyone steal your joy during this journey! Some may not realize that they are being critical it's easy to be judgmental then be an encourager....Enjoy your journey it started with you and it will end with you this is your time and don't let anyone intrude on it!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
