A thread for Single Bandsters

I thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where we could discuss the different challenges/issues we face as being single and banded.

I'll start with introducing myself. My name is Chris, I am 32 and live in a suburb of Boston. About a year ago I got out of a 5 year relationship and have just casually dated (online dating) since then. I have decided to take a break from dating for a bit, so I can focus on myself and adjust to living life as a bandster. (I was just banded on 10/2). One of my biggest concerns when I start dating again is if/when to tell that I am banded. It's not that I don't want to tell people, it's just that my idea of great dinner conversation does not include discussing my weight. Overall I would say that I have a great life. I have a good job, a very supportive family, and lots of friends. I am happy to be taking control over my weight and issues with food, and am excited at the prospect of my future as a not-so-fat woman.

I look forward to meeting more single bandsters and hope this thread takes off!

Chris :cocktail:

April, I think in my opinion, that is too many carbs. I lose weight best when I eat 20 grams of carbs per day or less.

Chripy you look fabulous too. You don't look like you need to lose any more. You look like your a size 10-12

Thanks Chrispy, I thought the same thing when I saw your pic. You look so pretty but your camera was blocking your face.

The bad news about this weight loss thing is that it is making a few of my ex-gfs want to come out of retirement. I guess I am going to have to be blunt and tell them to forget it, I did not do this for them I did this for me! How bout that for a bright outlook.

Also tried out the Kangoo jump boots last night. They are crazy cool. I imagined it being what jogging while taking acid or something would feel like.

Denise you are so nice and too kind. There is plenty more to lose, trust me. lol I'm not looking to be thin, just maybe a size 14 or a 12 if I'm lucky. I'm having a rough time lately being motivated. I don't know if it's because I've found someone I'm happy dating, or because I'm still dealing with the emotional stuff from losing my friend. I don't know, but I need to get serious again. My scale jumped 4 pounds this week, granted 3 were gone by today, but still. It's because I find myself eating to eat - not because I'm hungry. I know I could get full off a very small amount, yet I still keep eating. I get so frustrated with myself sometimes. grrrr....

So no Leona lately, huh? Girl's been hiding out with her new beau. lol

Manatee, what did you decide about the date?

JC that is too funny about the ex's. It always seems to happen doesn't it? I try to remind myself that they are ex's for a reason. lol. Any luck meeting any ladies lately?

Check into Unjury protein shake. High protein low carbs, sugar it is what my Doc recommended, and the choc. tastes pretty good.

BigHarleyGuy - I will check that out thanks!

This question is for anyone - Did you lose any weight prior to the surgery while on the liquid diet?

I haven't but I have always wanted to try it out. I have decided to wait until about a year after my surgery or at least when I have lost 100lbs. I think it will help my confidence and help break some of my shyness.

Have you tried it ShannonRT

Chrispy, haven't had any luck. I have been spending so much time with exercise and with my son's Eagle scout project. Thank God, it is almost finished. I have not really been out in the real world, but that is ok, for now!

Believe me, if they have an ex it is for a good reaason!

I haven't, but am interested. Of course I want to lose some more weight first. But I wanted to see if anyone here had any experiences to share.

I think you just need to take a breath, get through your divorce and care for yourself and your children. There are men who don't care about skin. There are clothes that can camoflouge your body. But please take care of yopurself and your children dduring the transition period.

hi everyone, this is the first time i have posted here but i have been reading it for awhile. I was wondering if after losing weight if you have found yourself being more sexual? I have been divorced for 19 yrs and i didn't date till the past 6 months and i have had 2 one night stand which i instagated. I am on such a high while it's happening but the next day i feel really cheap. i didn't pick up strangers, i knew both of them but it has changed our relationships afterwords. both times i have been drinking which is something that i normally don't do. i know this is a problem with myself that i need to work on but it would be nice to here from others that are or have experienced the same thing.
